Western Australia’s South West will witness some of the best drinks and dining events this winter at Cabin Fever Festival 2023.

There are many reasons to visit Western Australia. Expansive white beaches bursting with surf, the highly lauded wine-producing regions of Swan Valley, Margaret River and Great Southern, and hauntingly beautiful natural landmarks, among others, all contribute in making Australia’s westernmost state an attractive destination for tourists.

Except maybe during winter. Winter in Western Australia tends to be dreary. Not much happens during those chilly months of June to August.

But things are changing. One of the key festivals in Western Australia’s South West region, Cabin Fever Festival, takes place in winter and brings life and activity to a region that is normally in hibernation otherwise.

As with previous editions, Cabin Fever Festival this year – which will take place from 14 to 23 July 2023 – will see some of Western Australia’s best chefs and hospitality venues come together in Margaret River and Busselton to offer a slate of fun and exciting activities in a calendar that runs over ten days.

Cabin Fever - Burnside Organic Farm

Comprising almost 50 different satellite events that run the gamut from wine dinners and exclusive cellar door visits to beer parties and organic farm visits, there’s pretty much something for everybody.

The highlight event for Cabin Fever Festival 2023? An eight-hands collaboration dinner that will see Singapore’s own Chef Rishi Naleendra of Michelin-starred Cloudstreet join Evan Hayter of Arimia, Calum MacKechnie of Lalla Rookh and Luke Foyle from Juanita’s Bar Subiaco to create an amazing winter feast that will champion WA produce.

Other events that pique our interest? There’s Food Truck Frenzy, which will gather some of best food trucks from across Southwest to Shelter Brewing for some rocking good brews and bites, or a guided wine blending session at Snake + Herring which will culminate in a table feast prepared by Yarri, in our humble opinion one of the best restaurants in the WA’s South West.

Cabin Fever Festival 2023 - Blazing Brews

Otherwise soak in some brews and tunes over an epic bonfire over at Beerfarm, one of the leading craft breweries in Margaret River, while those who love their whisky may want to consider a dinner at modern Australian bistro Ooze & Tang that will see your courses paired with whisky and whisky-based cocktails.

As we said, something for everybody, especially those who love delicious food, fine local wines, and live music. Time to book your flights, folks.
