Barbary Coast once again transforms DeadFall for “Christmas on Canal”, a pop-up of seasonal eats and drinks celebrating the festive season.
DeadFall, the downstairs venue of dual-concept cocktail paradise Barbary Coast, is again ushering in the yule-tide season with its festive pop-up, “Christmas on Canal”.
And we don’t say it often enough, but the folks at Barbary Coast sure know how to throw a festive party. The entire space has been transformed into a Christmas wonderland, festooned liberally (but tastefully) with everything – bells, candles, stockings, wreaths, and of course, mistletoe – you’d associate with the season.
But where DeadFall outdoes itself? It’s their seasonal year-end “Christmas on Canal” menu, a veritable cornucopia of Christmas cocktails and dishes that will make Santa proud.
Not to mention very inebriated.
Because DeadFall puts the spirit in festive spirit. We’ve mentioned before that their Drunk Uncle Mulled Wine is possibly one of the most punchiest in town, and likewise the very well named Ho Ho Holy Shit It’s Christmas, a strong take on the Old Fashioned that’s infused with maple and burnt pecan notes.
We’re somewhat distraught that our favourite festive marmalade-flavoured Martini from previous years has disappeared off the menu, but we’re sure to console ourselves with the Nutcracker Nog Fog, excellent cognac-laced eggnog. Or else the Navidad Negroni, the classic Italian aperitif spiked with flavours of fruit mince pie.
So we’d highly recommend you line your tummy with some festive grub as you imbibe. It’s a slightly smaller menu than last year – no more turducken! – but must-orders include the lovely creamy and delicious mess that is the Spinach Artichoke Dip, as well as their Beef Wellington (and add some roasted foie gras for even more indulgence, because you can).
And before you roll back home? A round of Christmas shots for the road.
