Riesling Week in Singapore takes place from 21 to 28 April 2024, and features a slew of events promoting German Riesling across town.

Riesling lovers, rejoice! The annual Riesling Week is back, and Singapore has been chosen to kickstart festivities around the world celebrating this noble grape. Taking place from 21 to 28 April 2024, the second Riesling Week in Singapore organised by the German Wine Institute (DWI) will see various campaign activities aimed at promoting the love for Riesling in the Lion City.

Particularly of the German kind.

For those not familiar with German wine, Riesling is easily the most grown wine grape varietal in Germany. Not only does Riesling constitute almost a quarter of Germany’s total wine growing area under vine, German Riesling also accounts for almost forty percent of total global Riesling production.

So why isn’t German Riesling more popular in Singapore? Well, DWI hopes to change that with Riesling Week.

During Riesling Week, wine lovers will have ample opportunity to sample and enjoy a glass of German Riesling or three at selected venues across town such as Greenwood Fish Market, Brotzeit, Little Farms, and the Lobby Bar at Amara Singapore. These will be hosted by Jessica Himmelsbach, named as the 75th German Wine Princess by DWI at last year’s German Wine Queen competition.

75th German Wine Princess Jessica Himmelsbach is no mere decoration; she’s also winemaker at Baden-based Weingut Julius Zotz.

Riesling Week in Singapore coincides with ProWine Singapore. DWI will be hosting a German pavilion at the wine and spirits trade show, where they will showcase wares from 14 German producers such as Pfalz-based Weingut Dr. Josef Köhr, Rheinhessen’s VDP producer Weingut Georg Müller Stiftung and Weinmanufaktur Frey, Günther Schlink Wein from Nahe, among others.

As such, you can expect many of their wines to be showcased during Riesling Week. For example, Greenwood Fish Market at Quayside Isle will be hosting a five-course wine dinner that week featuring four premium German Rieslings from Mittelrhein-based VDP producer Weingut Lanius-Knab.

Following Riesling Week in Singapore, other Riesling Week(s) include:
