Italian restaurant and lounge Zafferano will be hosting a wine dinner on Saturday 18 June 2016 at 7.30pm featuring the wines from Vino Fèlsina of Italy.
Fèlsina is located right smack in the middle of Chianti country in Tuscany – in fact it is part of Chianti Classico, the original area dictated in the 1716 edict by the grand duke of Tuscany designating the production of Chianti – and as such is allowed to produce Chianti Classico, made from 100% Sangiovese.
Wines featured at the wine dinner include:
The Gran Selezione is particularly highly rated, and refers to small-lot wines handcrafted from the winery’s most prized vineyards.
The wines will be paired with a five-course classic modern Italian dinner from Zafferano specially curated by Zafferano head chef Marco Guccio, with dishes like poached and pan-seared octopus with chick pea puree and roasted pearl onions paired with the Fèlsina Chianti Classico Berardenga 2012 which is fruity on the palate with good tannins and a lingering finish.
A homemade ‘cavatelli’ in milk fed lamb ragout with grated ‘pecorino cheese’ comes together with Fèlsina’s Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia 2011 in a pairing that will make you dream of Italy’s beautiful Tuscan countryside.
The Fèlsina wine dinner is priced at $108++ per person. Call Zafferano at 65091488 to make your reservations.
