Fans of Japanese whisky brand Iwai by Mars Whisky may be excited to learn of this Iwai whisky dinner organised by 1855 at Bistro 1885 on Thursday 21 April from 7.30pm that will feature the launch of the limited edition Mars Komagatake Rindo single malt whisky.
Mars Shinshu brand ambassador Yoshiki Minamoto will be hosting the four-course whisky pairing dinner, which will showcase the following whiskies:
The Mars Iwai line of whisky is named after its founder Kichiro Iwai, a seldom-heard name in Japanese whisky industry but who is vitally important as a pioneer. Iwai was Masataka Taketsuru’s mentor and responsible for sending Taketsuru to Scotland to learn the art of whisky making. When Taketsuru returned he shared his notes with Iwai; Iwai would later go on to found Mars Whisky, as Taketsuru did with Nikka Whisky to become the “father of Japanese whisky”.
The dinner seats 45 persons; tickets are $138++ per person (for non-members). Register your interest emailing rsvp@1855thebottleshop.com.
