Penfolds Re-corking Clinic

Leading Australian wine brand Penfolds will be holding its second re-corking clinic in Singapore on 14 November 2017 offering consumers and wine collectors an opportunity to get any Penfolds wine aged fifteen years or older assessed and potentially re-corked.
The Penfolds re-corking clinic will see Penfolds chief winemaker Peter Gago and senior red winemaker Stephanie Dutton assess and examine vintage Penfolds wines from local collectors, even as they share the history and personality of Penfolds wines as well as provide valuable tips on cellaring, wine care and peak drinking windows with owners attending the clinic.
The art of re-corking is an extremely delicate, highly technical and specialised process – the bottles are first assessed visually and then, if deemed necessary, the winemakers will open the bottle to further assess the quality and maturity of wine. If the wine is deemed to be in a sound condition, it will be topped up with the most recent vintage, re-corked and provided with a new Penfolds capsule. The winemaker will then certify the wine by attaching a certificate to the back of the bottle stating that the wine has been successfully re-corked and this certification will also be recorded in its archives.

Penfolds re-corking clinics across the globe have accessed well over 150,000 bottles from collectors around the world since 1991, providing a distinct and intimate wine health examination. This time in Singapore though, National Geographic will be in attendance as they search for local stories for its “A Story in Every Bottle” digital series.
