The Singapore Girl’s iconic Pierre Balmain-designed blue sarong kebaya uniform gets reinterpreted in a special limited edition release of Johnnie Walker Blue Label The Casks Edition in a partnership between Singapore Airlines and Johnnie Walker House.
Taking aesthetic cues from the much-beloved uniform of the Singapore Girl – originally designed by French couturier Pierre Balmain in 1968 – the special limited edition bottle of the Johnnie Walker Blue Label The Casks Edition comes in a rich lapis lazuli blue that mimics the colour of the renowned attire while the airlines’s signature batik print gets translated into the silver etching of the label on the bottle.
The liquid within is otherwise similar to the regular Johnnie Walker Blue Label The Casks Edition, an intense cask strength blended whisky crafted from some of Johnnie Walker distillery’s rarest casks and exhibiting rich woody notes, deep smoke, traces of spice, and a long lingering oak finish.
Blue Label is the rarest expression in the Johnnie Walker stable of premium blended Scotch whiskies, while the Casks Edition are its cask-strength versions.
“We are proud to be able to exclusively offer our customers the opportunity to purchase this special release in-flight via Singapore Airlines KrisShop. Having our Singapore Girl’s signature sarong kebaya batik motif reproduced on the bottle of the world’s leading luxury blended Scotch whisky is an honour and we are thrilled to have been selected as the first Johnnie Walker House airline partner,” shares Foo Chai Woo, Singapore Airlines Divisional Vice President Sales & Marketing.
“This partnership with Singapore Airlines provides an opportunity for consumers to buy a product that they cannot find anywhere else – an example of our continuing commitment to bringing our most successful innovations to consumers within the world of travel,” adds Lawrence Law, Global General Manager for Johnnie Walker House.
A limited run of just 2,000 bottles of the special edition has been produced. The Johnnie Walker Blue Label The Casks Edition Singapore Airlines special release is available only from Singapore Airlines inflight retail store KrisShop from 1 December 2015 at the price of S$378 (US$270) for the 75cl bottle. You can also pre-order it here.
Probably the only proper way of getting your hands on a Singapore Girl without being sued, wethinks.
