Opened in partnership with wine and spirits retailer 1855 The Bottle Shop, the Macallan Boutique in Marina One is the whisky brand’s first-ever luxury retail space in the world that’s smack in the middle of a city’s downtown.
Utilising a “shop within a shop” concept, the boutique in the new integrated development in Singapore’s Central Business District offers the full experience including a tasting bar and a physical showcase of current and limited-edition whisky expressions from The Macallan. The 500 square-feet boutique takes some inspiration from its newly-commissioned distillery in Craigellachie – look at the ceiling of the retail space (below picture) and compare it to the geodesic roof of the new distillery, for example.
The brand will be using this new venue launch new whisky expressions – we understand the first of which will be The Macallan Edition No. 4 – and hold special events for fans and customers. The retail space also offers tasting flights to help guide customers in deciding on their purchases; The Macallan’s core 12 year-old statements – Sherry Oak, Double Cask and Triple Cask Matured, and the 1824 Masters Series Collection – Rare Cask, Reflexion, No. 6 and M are allavailable for tasting and purchase. Customers can look forward to limited edition releases such as The Macallan Edition No. 3, Classic Cut and The Macallan 50 Years Old to be available based on seasonality. Travel retail exclusives will also be on display, but won’t be available for purchase. For those who love their whisky-related merchandise? Yes, it’ll be available here too.
Pro tip: there’s a hidden private cigar room for customers to lounge in and enjoy a whisky. Invitation is upon request only, although we heard buying a few (high-end) bottles won’t hurt.
