Gin-focused cocktail bar CIN CIN at Oasia Hotel Downtown will be reprising its gin and food pairing series, this time focusing on Singapore-made gins. 

Cocktail bar CIN CIN at Oasia Hotel Downtown has been hosting a number of gin masterclasses that saw CIN CIN head bartender Fadly Sujebto guide participants – through a three-course gin tasting menu – in discovering the different styles of gin, and how tonics or mixers can influence the botanical profile of gin. They’ll be doing that again this year, but unlike its previous edition last year which highlighted gins sourced from across Asia, this time the spotlight will be shown on Singapore-made gins.

In this new instalment of its gin and food pairing series, participants will be pairing three made-in-Singapore gins with local hawker favourites. You’re looking at the Brass Lion Singapore Dry, Tanglin Orchid Gin and Tanglin Mandarin Chilli that participants can match with different tonics, and then pair those gin and tonics with iconic local dishes such as Hainanese Chicken Rice, Singapore Laksa and Peranakan Otak-Otak.

This is the first time that the spotlight is shown on homegrown gins this way, and really only possible in recent time now that Singapore boasts a number of local distilleries such as Brass Lion and Tanglin. “Our local gin distilleries have added depth and tones to gin flavours with the use of Asian and local botanicals. Through the tastings, I discovered that these gins pair very well with our local spicy and savoury food,” Subjeto shared.

“As CIN CIN is a homegrown gin bar, it makes sense to marry locally-produced gin with the favourite comfort food that we grew up with. Together with our gin knowledge, it will be a session that will stimulate the mind and gratify the gustatory senses,” he added.

CIN CIN’s local gin and food pairing series is a 1.5-hour experience that is available at S$85++ per guest, for up to six guests a day. It is available from Mondays to Wednesdays and Saturdays (by reservations only). You can make your reservations here.
