The limited-edition Balmain x Chivas XV collection are two luxury whisky bottlings geared towards the fashionable Balmain Army.
The limited-edition Balmain x Chivas XV collection is one of the more surprising whisky-related releases to be announced this fall. Pernod Ricard-owned blended Scotch whisky brand Chivas has partnered French luxury house Balmain to release a lifestyle-focused two-bottle collection that “blends Balmain’s Parisian couture with Chivas’ opulent aesthetic for a modern reimagining of Scotch”.
For those not familiar with Chivas XV, the Chivas Regal XV is a 15-year old blended Scotch whisky first released in 2018 that has been finished – i.e. seen additional maturation – in casks that previously held Grand Champagne Cognac. For this partnership, Balmain’s Creative Director Olivier Rousteing has taken the Chivas Regal XV and wrapped it in two different bold and splashy bottle designs featuring familiar icons from both houses that are certain to appeal to the Balmain Army of non-conformist fashionistas.
The Balmain x Chivas XV collection includes Drop 1, an extremely limited and individually numbered gold bottle that is adorned with metallic armour and chains in a nod to Balmain’s signature runway pieces. Then there’s Drop 2, which brings to life Balmain’s recognisable silhouette through a symmetrical design of chains and belts directly inspired by the house’s recent collections.
“Just like Balmain, Chivas has always adhered to the highest standards with neither house being afraid to push boundaries and break with outdated conventions,” states Balmain’s Creative Director Olivier Rousteing.
“Those already familiar with the Balmain universe will note that this unique collaboration includes a signature motif of the house — the oversized golden chain. Whenever I’ve included that eye-catching adornment in my collections, it has served as a bold symbol of the defiant spirit of our rebellious and inclusive Balmain Army – a bold and audacious attitude that both Chivas and Balmain celebrate,” Rousteing adds.
The Balmain x Chivas XV collection dropped globally on 5 October 2021. The extremely limited and individually numbered Drop 1 is not for sale, while Drop 2 will retail exclusively at S$170. To order, register your interest here.
