Casual dining destination The Dempsey Project has introduced Aperitivo, a weekday sundown session with a special tipples and nibbles menu available every Monday and Tuesday.

The Dempsey Project – previously Jones The Grocer, until the gourmet purveyor recently reinvented its Dempsey Hill outlet – is a contemporary communal dining hub offering one of the most eclectic food selections we’ve ever seen. And which, we are happy to report, just happens to have a pretty decent drinks programme as well. One of the best ways to experience what it has to offer? Its newly introduced Aperitivo weekday sundown sessions.

Available every Monday and Tuesday from 4pm, The Dempsey Project Aperitivo offers a casual pre-dinner drinks and bites menu that’s good for some me time if you’re in around the Dempsey enclave. For just S$25++, you get to pick from a selection of personal platter loaded with nibbles as well as a choice of drink including bubbles, wines, and even cocktails.

Zonin Prosecco Rose

There’s the Mezze Platter if you prefer a more Eastern Mediterranean option, for example, which combines familiar Greek and Middle Eastern eats such falafel, muhammara, tzatziki, tahini, fattoush, turnip tourshi, pickled hot pepper and manakeesh. For more European flavours, there’s the Charcuterie Platter of chorizo, parma ham, smoked leg ham, olives, cornichons, apple chutney and crisp bread. Turophiles on the other hand will love the Cheese Platter of three cheeses and assorted condiments.

As for drinks, there’s a range of wines to pick from, such as the Concha y Toro Reservado Cabernet Sauvignon if you enjoy a decent red, or the Concha y Toro Reservado Sauvignon Blanc if you prefer a more refreshing and crisp white. Our pick of wine is the Zonin Prosecco Rosé, one of the first Prosecco DOC Rosé to land on our shores since the appellation was announced in 2020. There are cocktail options too – a punchy Margarita, or your ubiquitous Aperol Spritz sundowner.

Sunset Feast

We do recommend coming to a The Dempsey Project Aperitivo session with a friend though. That way you can opt for the Sunset Feast. Here’s where – at just S$75++ – you get to sample the extensive spread its kitchen can throw out. This is a platter of antipasti that runs the gamut from the Mediterranean all the way to India, including bites such as Greek dolmades, Middle Eastern falafel and galouti, Levantine baba ghanoush, Yemeni zhoug, to Indian gunpowder potato and samosas. It comes with two complimentary drinks, as well, making this pretty much a perfect sharing platter.

The Dempsey Project Aperitivo may be a good way to dispel the Monday blues, don’t you think?
