IPPUDO Umeshu Festival returns; the ramen chain’s popular fiesta celebrating the plum liqueur will take place from 21 to 25 February 2022.

Umeshu lovers, rejoice – Singapore’s favourite ramen chain IPPUDO will be reprising its popular umeshu festival. The first edition was launched last year to huge success despite pandemic pressures, and this time IPPUDO will be partnering specialist Japanese spirits retailer Umeshuya to showcase 30 different umeshu expressions from all across Japan for our tasting pleasure.

Aimed to promote Japanese food and culture to the world, the IPPUDO Umeshu Festival will put the Japan’s iconic plum liqueur under the spotlight. For the second edition, diners can again sample one of the widest selection of umeshu labels in one place. These include umeshu expressions from different prefectures, including a number of exclusive labels previously not available in Singapore.

For those not familiar with umeshu, the Japanese liqueur is made by steeping ume plums and sugar in shochu. Over time, the plums impart their sweet and sour flavours into the base spirit. Umeshu can be enjoyed neat or on ice, but is also commonly turned into cocktails such as highballs.

For this collaboration with Umeshuya, expect to see umeshu expressions such as Aotan No Yuzushu, Ebisu Fukuume, Jurou Fukuume, Mukashihanashi Pioneshu and Hououbiden Yuzu, just to name a few.

Also a partner at this fiesta is PETITOMA, which will be bringing specially cultivated mini tomatoes from Japan that you can pair with your umeshu.

During the period that the IPPUDO Umeshu Festival will be running, for the price of S$19.80++ per set you get to sample three types of umeshu that are paired with PETITOMA mini tomatoes served three ways – fresh, pickled with vinegar, and in an Italian style with bacon and garlic. For those who particularly enjoy umeshu, additional glasses are available at S$8 each.

The IPPUDO Umeshu Festival will be held exclusively at IPPUDO Raffles City outlet for a limited time from 21 to 25 February 2022. Seats are by reservation only from 5:30pm onwards. For reservations, please call 6259 0113 or email ippudo_sgrc@chikaranomoto.com.
