Republic at Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore celebrates St Patrick’s Day this year with a seasonal Irish-inflected menu.
Known as Lá Fhéile Pádraig – translated as ‘The Day of the Festival of St. Patrick”, which is also a mouthful – St Patrick’s Day is better known as a festival where copious amounts of Guinness are gregariously consumed.
But this year Republic at Ritz-Carlton Millennia Singapore has a different, more elegant way to celebrate. The swanky ’60s-themed cocktail bar at the five-star hotel has introduced a classy limited-time menu that carries enough Irish elements without showering us with a cascade of four-leaf clovers and plastering shamrocks everywhere.
From 17 to 19 March 2022, Republic will be offering an exclusive St Patrick’s Day cocktail, the Tipsy Leprechaun. This is a whiskey highball – appropriately made with Jameson Irish Whiskey, but of course – that comes with a smear of Midori reduction on the side of the glass, which slowly dissolves and adds its melon flavour into your highball as you sip along.
On this seasonal menu is also the Irish Hot Cross Bun. Traditionally, hot cross buns start becoming available in Ireland from St Patrick’s Day all the way to Good Friday. But the one here at Republic is really a hot cross bun-turned-burger; it sandwiches char siew beef slices ( for some Asian influence), as well as green apple for a most lovely fusion burger.
Then there is Irish Coffee. This boozy coffee and whiskey concoction is readily available at Republic anytime, but it is entirely appropriate to include this best-seller. Even better, Republic is offering the Irish Coffee and the Irish Hot Cross Bun as a set at just $38++.
