Robert Parker Wine Advocate picks experienced wine writer Erin Larkin to the role of wine reviewer for Australia.

Robert Parker Wine Advocate, one of the world’s most authoritative wine publications, have announced with strengthening of its wine reviewing team with the appointment of Erin Larkin to the position of wine reviewer for Australia.

Perth, Western Australia-based Erin Larkin is best known as a prolific wine writer, having written a weekly wine column since 2014. She’s done extensive tastings for the Halliday Wine Companion, covering areas including all of Western Australia, and regions in South Australia, including Clare Valley, Coonawarra, the Limestone Coast and others. Larkin is also a well-recognised face in the Australian wine competition circuit, having judged many wine competitions across the country. She recently qualified as a Barossa Wine School Specialist Educator, and has been a judge for the Australian Wine List of the Year and the China Wine List of the Year Awards, both for the last eight years.

“Having judged dozens of Australian wine shows and worked tirelessly as a member of the team at Halliday Wine Companion, Erin brings a wealth of experience in evaluating Australian wines to the RPWA team,” says Robert Parker Wine Advocate Editor in Chief Joe Czerwinski.

“For the first time, we’ll have an Australia-based reviewer, one ideally positioned to give readers the most up-to-date reviews and insider news from one of the world’s most dynamic wine-producing nations,” Czerwinski adds.

“It’s an honour to join one of the world’s most respected and influential wine review publications, and to work alongside some of the greatest minds in the industry,” shares Erin. “From a personal perspective, it gives me the chance to project my wine voice far and wide which I am very excited about, but more significantly, it gives readers and Australian wineries the opportunity to have Australian wines portrayed globally. I can’t wait to share the best of what we do with the world,” Larkin declares.

Larkin’s appointment is the latest change in the RPWA wine reviewing team, after former editor in chief Lisa Perotti-Brown left the eminent wine publication in end 2021 to start her own wine review site, the Wine Independent. Perotti-Brown was succeeded by Czerwinski.
