ProWine Singapore returns this September after a two-year hiatus with a refreshed and exciting lineup of international wine and spirit exhibitors.

Wine and spirits trade fair ProWine Singapore will take place from 5 to 8 September 2022. Originally slated for 2020, the third edition of ProWine Singapore – previously known as ProWine Asia (Singapore) – was postponed due to the global coronavirus pandemic in a year that saw many other events similarly pushed back or cancelled.

But the trade show is back with a vengeance. Held alongside FHA-Food & Beverage at Singapore Expo, ProWine Singapore – a regional event of ProWein Düsseldorf – is slated to be the region’s first specialist wine and spirits trade fair this year, with the trade-only show set to bring together more than 200 exhibitors from over 20 countries and regions to connect with an estimated 5,000+ trade visitors from the region.

There’s particularly keen interest in ProWine Singapore this year. Organisers Messe Düsseldorf Asia revealed that show booths were already 80% committed by the end of first quarter this year, likely a sign of pent up demand over the pandemic period.

Another reason? Wine consumption is on the rise in Asia, and wine exporters want in on it. According to a recent Mordor Intelligence report on the global wine market, wine consumption in Asia is burgeoning with Asia Pacific accounting for 16% of global imports. The ProWein Business Report 2018 also showed that Southeast Asia looks to be the blue ocean for the industry, with Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, and Indonesia among the top 10 choice markets for exports. Singapore, in particular, is the choice market for many producers. In the same report, the Lion City was rated as the top emerging market of choice for Old World wine producers from France (49%), Italy (51%), and Spain (45%), and 32% for New World producers.

The theme of ProWine Singapore 2022 centres on ‘A New Hope’. Organisers Messe Düsseldorf Asia is keen to celebrate the emergence of new wine and spirits brands, and how timeless marques are finding new ways of working in this new market normal. Visitors dropping into the trade show are encouraged to discover the creativity and innovation process of these participating producers.

Among the participating exhibitors are Singapore’s own homegrown importer and retailer Bottles & Bottles, wine industry advocacy organisation California Wine Institute, Singapore-based agave spirits importer and distributor East West Management, and wine preservation specialists Coravin, among many others.
