Writers Bar and Tarte by Cheryl Koh collaborates for three specially-crafted cocktail and dessert pairings this month of August.

Writers Bar and Tarte by Cheryl Koh are partnering up this August for something fun and inventive. Raffles Hotel Singapore’s cosy cocktail lounge and the artisanal pastry maker has curated a special range of cocktails and sweet treats that will be exclusively presented at both venues this month.

Cocktail hounds will be most familiar with Writers Bar, helmed by beverage manager Nicholas Alexander; the small yet sophisticated cocktail bar harkens to Raffles Hotel’s great literary past, and offers up a playful cocktail menu that’s intricately tied to its writers residency programme. Then there’s Tarte by Cheryl Koh. Helmed by award-winning confectionery genius Cheryl Koh – who has more than a decade of experience with the Les Amis Group – the artisanal tart maker is best known for putting together inventive and tasty creations from the best available ingredients.

Writers Bar x Tarte by Cheryl Koh, which will be available for the entire month of August, puts together these two innovative players together. Both Writers Bar’s Alexander and Cheryl Koh have come up with two exclusive creations for the collaboration.

The Oriole’s Pipe and Smoked Pecan Tart puts Writers Bar’s beloved smoked pecans up front and centre.

The first pairing spotlights Writers Bar’s beloved smoked pecans. It features Oriole’s Pipe, a whiskey-based cocktail made with the exclusive The Raffles Writer’s Series Somerset Maugham Cask Buffalo Trace Whiskey, along with Amaro Lucano, and Bittermens Xocolatl Mole, for a herbaceous and spicy take on a Manhattan. This is paired with the newly created Smoked Pecan Tart by Tarte that is generously laced with smoked pecans, light caramel, and velvety dark chocolate ganache, perfectly encased in a buttery tart shell.

The second exclusive pairing revolves around Tarte’s signature Pandan Coconut Tart. This tart of pandan curd and coconut frangipane topped with toasted desiccated coconut is paired with the gin-based Screwpine Swizzle, a creamy highball concocted using Stranger & Sons Gin, Disarono Amaretto, and a touch of lime.

The third and final pairing features Writers Bar’s best-seller, the Million Dollar Cocktail. This is a luxe take on the legendary Singapore Sling first created by Ngiam Tong Boon and popularised at the Long Bar, made using the exclusive Raffles 1915 Gin. For this, Tarte by Cheryl Koh has prepared the Million Dollar Cocktail Jar, a jarred confection that layers gin-imbued sponge cake, tangy lemon mousse, delicately poached pineapple, and then topped with pomegranate pulp for more flavour.

These Writers Bar x Tarte by Cheryl Koh cocktail and dessert offerings are available the entire month of August. Writers Bar will be serving limited quantities of the cocktail and dessert pairings daily, while the limited-time tarts will be made available at all Tarte locations. Exclusively at Writers Bar every Sunday in August, guests can enjoy all three pairings of cocktails and dessert as a set available at a special S$88++ and comprising of all three desserts and each of the three cocktails split into two smaller glasses for toasting with your chosen company.
