There’s a new whisky bar in town, but it’s not one that you can easily access. Lost Vintage, tucked discreetly in an upper storey of a shophouse along the bustling F&B stretch that is Tanjong Pagar Road, is an exclusive whisky-focused lounge that only opens its doors to members.

A caveat. We’re not exactly sure how much membership costs at Lost Vintage. Neither are we certain what benefits being a member exactly entails. To find out a prospective member actually has to apply directly on their website to find out more. But we were given a sneak peek and here’s what we found out.

Lost Vintage is beautiful. One of its core cofounders is an architect, and he’s used his expertise in putting together a space that looks and feels like a whisky-loving billionaire’s home bar to entertain his rich (and hopefully similarly whisky-loving) friends. Or, at least, this would be the kind of thing we’d do for ourselves if we had that kind of moolah to splash.

The bar at Lost Vintage

The venue is effectively split into three sections. There’s a fantastic bar area with shelves bedecked with bottles flanked by comfortable leather sofas, a private room good for meetings, as well as a cosy alcove with lockers where key Lost Vintage members can stash their collections. The alcove is also where guests can look out to admire an impressive bonsai tree.

Yes. You heard that right the first time.

As far as a whisky bar goes? Lost Vintage is a shrine dedicated to leading single malt Scotch whisky The Macallan. While you’ll see the odd Islay or Highland specimen, its current collection is a literal showcase of whiskies from that massively popular Speyside distillery. Apart from pretty much The Macallan’s entire core offerings, you’ll also find rarer limited edition expressions like the full Harmony Collection available here. And, of course, whiskies from Macallan’s sister distilleries Glenrothes and Highland Park under Edrington Group.

Come to think of it, Lost Vintage looks fancier than even the tasting room at the Macallan distillery.

There are cocktails too, for some variety. Their signature MacFashioned is the Scotch Old Fashioned, made with The Macallan 12 Year Old instead of the usual bourbon. There’s also the MacHattan, which – you guessed it – is a classic Manhattan made with Scotch.

If you’re feeling the munchies, Lost Vintage offers a range of bites that will be increasingly important to line the tummy with as the evening wears on. The food – mostly grilled fare – comes from steakhouse Primal Cut downstairs, which is owned by the same folks.

“Whisky is more than just a spirit; it’s a journey that encapsulates history, culture, and crasmanship,” said Darryl Tan, one of the founders of Lost Vintage. “Our goal is to create an intimate and exclusive space for members to connect and host private gatherings, yet open and welcoming to entertain, mingle and make new acquaintances. We added little surprises to every nook and cranny and we cannot wait for you to experience Lost Vintage.”
