Scotch Malt Whisky Society partners La Maison du Whisky to again offer Singapore its eclectic range of single cask whiskies.

Renowned whisky club and independent bottler Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS) has officially relaunched its chapter in Singapore, partnering with French spirits importer and distributor La Maison du Whisky to offer their whiskies to members and select bars across the Lion City.

The Edinburgh-based whisky membership programme is highly regarded for bottling single cask, single malt whiskies sourced directly from distilleries that are generally unavailable in the market. First founded by Pip Hills who pulled together a bunch of whisky-loving friends to purchase a whisky cask back in 1983, over the decades they have collaborated with over 156 distilleries to create more than 10,000 unique and one-of-a-kind whiskies, and growing the society to include many like-minded whisky aficionados across the world who eagerly await each special society-exclusive whisky release.

Scotch Malt Whisky Society originally opened its Singapore chapter in 2017 with Malt Vault then moved to the Whisky Store around 2018, but closed during the pandemic years.

But SMWS members in Singapore and around the world have something to look forward to now that the the Lion City has rejoined the Scotch Malt Whisky Society’s network of 26 other chapters around the world with La Maison du Whisky picking up the slack. Aside from being able to purchase specially curated allocation of outturn whiskies – some of which is only available to specific chapters around the world – members can also expect access exclusive tasting sessions, and get discounts for SMWS bottles by the glass at partner bars across town that include 67 Pall Mall, The Swan Song, The Warehouse Hotel, Tippling Club, Writers Bar, and more.

“SMWS, with its labels driven by tasting notes and not distilleries, has been one of the most exciting brand concepts in the world of whisky for years. La Maison du Whisky is thrilled to represent SMWS, an independent bottler driven by passion and which offers spirits of the utmost quality, in Singapore,” says Diego Araud, Marketing Director of La Maison du Whisky.

A one-year ‘Regular’ membership for Scotch Malt Whisky Society Singapore costs S$175, while a higher tier that comes with a bottle (at SMWS’ discretion) is S$250. The ‘Exclusive Priority’ membership tier, priced at S$350, provides exclusive early-bird access to new outturns.

The initial outturn list for SMWS Singapore’s return has not been officially released yet, although Spirited Singapore previewed Fruit Syrup Party (5.109), Madeira’s Sweet Salvo (58.55), Pudding Whisky (35.351), and Sweet and Smoky Mayo (16.91).
