Eminent single malt Scotch whisky brand The Macallan unveils the first of its new experiential retail concept, The Macallan House, in Singapore at Raffles Hotel.

Shopping for The Macallan whisky may never be the same again.

Renowned luxury single malt Scotch whisky brand The Macallan has just launched its first-ever The Macallan House, its new experiential retail concept, right here in Singapore. Located in Raffles Hotel – where The Macallan Experience pop-up used to be – The Macallan House is a 3,000 square feet brand boutique reimagines entirely a consumer’s experience and process when buying a bottle of The Macallan.

The Macallan House - Arboretum

Designed by award-winning British architect Jamie Fobert – whose works include the historic Fondaco dei Tedeschi in Venice – The Macallan House at Raffles Hotel draws upon signature references from The Macallan’s spiritual home Easter Elchies House as well as its very stunning £140m modern distillery unveiled in 2018. Those who’ve visited The Macallan in Craigellachie may recognise, for example, the curved walls and timber accents of its contemporary interiors as inspired by the distillery’s wooden geodesic roof and the undulating hills surrounding it, or copper fixtures that bring to mind the spirit and wash stills that are the beating heart of the distillery.

The Macallan House also imbues the whisky brand’s new creative direction of ‘Nature Culture’. While most whisky brand boutiques aim to educate visitors on the whisky making journey, The Macallan House instead chooses to showcase the brand’s relationship with nature. Visitors are encouraged to interact with various experiential elements within the space, inspired by the four distinct micro-climates of The Macallan Estate – its barley fields, Easter Elchies House, the surrounding woodlands, and the River Spey.

And hopefully, helping them ultimately discover their preferred The Macallan bottle.

The retail section houses an extensive collection of limited-edition and core range single malt whiskies, as well as a select portfolio of lifestyle accessories available for purchase. Flanking one side of the retail space is an expansive bar where visitors can get to purchase and sample various The Macallan whiskies by the dram, as well as cocktails made with them. On the other is a cosy collaborative gallery where currently Singapore artists, sculptor Nathan Yong and textile artist Tiffany Loy, display their creations. And should you be lucky enough to be invited into a hidden private tasting corner, you may just get to admire its oak flooring that’s been repurposed from used oak staves that previously aged whiskies.

“From the moment visitors step foot into The Macallan House, they will find themselves transported to the brand home in Speyside, Scotland. The retail environment offers visitors an immersive, engaging experience to appreciate the incomparable offerings of The Macallan,” shares Coral Gill, Head of Retail at The Macallan.

“The Macallan House is unlike anything we have unveiled before – a unique place which captures our unwavering commitment to uncompromised excellence and brings to life the innovation, creativity and connection to nature which have been at the heart of The Macallan for nearly 200 years,” muses Jaume Ferràs, Creative Director at The Macallan.
