All-day dining restaurant Bolonia Singapore brings its take on Spanish cuisine to regale diners in the heart of the city.
Spanish food has gotten rather popular in Singapore in recent years, and Bolonia, one of the newest openings in the heart of Singapore’s frenetic Central Business District, brings yet another taste of Iberian cuisine to the Lion City.
Located at Republic Plaza right next to Raffles Place MRT Station, the contemporary bar and restaurant is a vibrant, colourful open space that tries to replicate any of the eateries one might find along Barcelona’s famous La Rambla tourist stretch. Aside from the stream of office drones, instead of tourists, filing past.
What sets Bolonia Singapore apart from its contemporaries? Unlike most other Spanish restaurants in the CBD, it’s an all-day eatery, offering an alternative for said office workers who need a convenient breakfast option, a quick lunch stop, after-work drinks, or a proper dinner before heading home.
We didn’t get an opportunity to try its breakfast options, but the Andalusian Breakfast, featuring Spanish omelette on sourdough, or the Ragout Sandwich with Eggs, sound like a great way to start the day.
Bolonia Singapore’s regular a la carte menu offer familiar and ubiquitous Spanish stalwarts. Choices of tapas run from Ham Croquetas and Padron Peppers to Patatas Bravas and Gambas al Ajillo, for example. Love your paella? You’ll be tempted by the Seafood and Chicken Paella like we were – laden with prawns, squid, and clams – although the Iberica Pork Collar Paella and Squid Ink Paella sound like worthy alternatives. There’s also a vegetarian paella option for those with dietary preferences.
As for drinks, there’s a rather limited selection of Spanish wines, so we’re more partial to its cocktails. Their Sangria is good, but their Sheroni – a Negroni that eschews vermouth for a blend of sherries instead – is fabulous.
