Clare Valley SCA Gourmet Week 2024 will see riotous fun-filled 10 days of wine, food and entertainment descend on this winemaking region in South Australia.
For lovers of world-class Riesling, there isn’t a better time to visit Clare Valley in South Australia than in May when it hosts its annual wine event, the Clare Valley Gourmet Week. This year Clare Valley SCA Gourmet Week 2024 will run from 17 to 26 May, and sees a calendar chock full of events with plenty of wine, food, and music at all your beloved Clare Valley wineries.
But it’s even more special this year. This year will see Clare Valley will host its 40th edition of the SCA Gourmet Week, commemorating four decades of what is Australia’s longest-running regional food and wine festival of its kind. So you can expect your favourite wineries in this distinctive Australian winemaking region to pull out all the stops.
Clare Valley SCA Gourmet Week 2024 will see its main festivities take place on 17 to 19 May during its signature festival weekend. You’re looking at an entire lineup of gourmet experiences that runs from the opening dinner – gloriously titled the Cellars without Doors Degustation Dinner – and the Koerner Brothers Long Lunch to a Bubbles and Burger Breakfast escapade at Knappstein Wines, for example.
And if you’re a serious oenophile? You’ll want to sign up for wine-centric activities, such as the Gourmet Vertical Shiraz Tasting at Sussex Squire Wines, the Museum vs Current Vintage Tastings session at Sevenhill Cellars, or the vigneron-led Meet the Maker ‘The Man Himself’ Jeffrey Grosset of Grosset Wines.
But there’s really more to this event than the just main festival weekend. Stick around the week after for an entire calendar of wine masterclasses, cooking classes, historical tours, art exhibitions, all designed to make you fall in love with the region. And then finally sign off the following weekend with a series of long lunches organised throughout the region at various cellar doors, winery restaurants, and other dining spots that may just feature a food personality or two.
