Importer and purveyor of premium Japanese products, Ippin, has confirmed that it will be bringing Kanazawa Hyakumangoku range of beers from Nomi-based Hakusan Waku Waku Beer in Japan’s Ishikawa prefecture.

Hakusan Waku Waku’s Kanazawa Hyakumangoku beers will be the first time that Ippin, which is better known for bringing in quality food produce and sake from Japan, will be importing beers. The Nomi, Ishikawa-based brewery makes a small range of beers – three core year-round beers, supplemented by a seasonal one – made mostly from ingredients grown in the area, such as locally grown barley. For example, its Koshihikari Rice Ale employs the famous high-grade Koshihikari rice varietal grown in rice paddies in Kawakita, mere miles from its brewery.

Ippin currently carries Hakusan Waku Waku’s core range – Dark Ale, Koshihikari Rice Ale, and Pale Ale – as well as a seasonal one with the Gran Agri (its version of a ‘Grand Cru’, featuring the best ingredients). Ippin is looking to start distribution of the beers; in the meantime you can pick it up from Ippin’s cafe bar and retail shop at 18 Mohamed Sultan Road.
