Singapore’s cocktail scene continues its winning ways when Asia’s 50 Best Bars announced its list earlier this week, with Singapore’s Manhattan Bar leading the pack at No. 1 along with 12 other Singapore bars on that list.

We’ve always believed Singapore’s bar scene to be among the best in the world, and last year Asia’s Best 50 Bars agreed; the 2016 edition placed a total of nine bars from Singapore on its list, with Singapore’s pioneer speakeasy bar 28 Hong Kong Street at the No.1 spot. That winning streak continues this year with a whopping 13 bars from Singapore muscling aside the competition from the rest of Asia. Regent Singapore’s Manhattan Bar, which landed the No.5 spot in 2016, came out on top this year. Which didn’t really surprise us, as we’ve always loved their New York themed cocktail menus.

The 13 Singapore bars that got into Asia’s 50 Best Bars list this year are:

  • Manhattan Bar (No.1)
  • 28 Hong Kong Street (No.4)
  • Operation Dagger (No.6)
  • Tippling Club (No.11)
  • Atlas Bar (No.12)
  • Gibson (No.14)
  • Employees Only Singapore (No.17)
  • Native (No.20)
  • Jigger & Pony (No.21)
  • D.Bespoke (No.29)
  • Nutmeg & Clove (No.30)
  • The Other Room (No.35)
  • Sugarhall (No. 38)

Atlas, Employees Only Singapore and Native all opened in the past year and already managed to join its luminary contemporaries, while veteran Singapore-themed bar Nutmeg & Clove surpassed expectations by listing for the first time. The only Singapore casualty was Fairmont Singapore’s Anti:dote, which fell off the list totally after a troubled year which saw it lose head craftsmen Tom Hogan and then Gina Kent in near rapid succession.

It’ll be interesting to see what else Singapore’s cocktail scene has to offer next year.
