This year’s version of Douglas Laing’s seasonal offering of Big Peat, the Big Peat Christmas 2018, hits retail shelves in time for the festivities.

If there’s one whisky to look forward to during the festive season, it’s Big Peat Christmas. There are always going to be many other wonderful whiskies that will pop up during the end of the year, but Big Peat‘s Christmas edition has become a sort of tradition especially for fans of the peated regional release from independent bottlers Douglas Laing.

Big Peat Christmas, of course, is the whisky version of that rambunctious, affable, chain-smoking uncle who works the high seas as a deep sea fisherman that comes calling just once a year during Christmas time. Which is just as well, because like the blended Islay malt he’s rather lovely in small doses but can be tiring in fuller measures.

As is usually the case with Big Peat’s Christmas Edition, the 2018 release is bottled at cask-strength – it comes at a whopping 53.9% – and sees our favourite Ileach fisherman dressed in Santa Claus livery on both bottle label and the premium gift tube it comes in.

“You can expect a big, ashy, beachy, oceanic and smoky message in the bottle, all the way from the island of Islay. During the festive season, that chimney soot connection seems particularly appropriate, being the entry point of our gift-laden Saint Nick himself. Big Peat’s Christmas limited edition has become truly synonymous with the season, setting us up nicely as we prepare to celebrate his 10th birthday in 2019,” shares Cara Laing, Douglas Laing & Co’s Director of Whisky.

Big Peat Christmas 2018 Edition comes mere weeks after exclusive importers of Douglas Laing whiskies Le Vigne unveiled the limited Big Peat Singapore Edition.

This limited Big Peat Christmas 2018 Edition (70cl) is available at a recommended selling price of S$148 nett from the following retail outlets: Le VigneHermitageThe MoombaVom Fass, and Meidi-Ya.
