Newest outlet of burger bar Burger+ at Clarke Quay Central combines Korean-style fast food with alcoholic beverages and extended opening hours.

Korean burger joint Burger+ has opened its second and newest outlet at Clarke Quay Central, just six months after its first outlet debuted at Wisma Atria in July last year. But it’s likely that the new and larger Burger+ at Clarke Quay Central may be its flagship yet, bringing its gourmet burger and chi-maek (beer and fried chicken pairing) experience to a mall more known for its Japanese gastronomic concepts than any Korean one.

You’re looking at the likes of a sauce-drowned Korean Bulgogi Burger ($13.80), with its premium US beef patty coated in a sweet bulgogi glaze, or a decadent Truffle Burger ($21.00) that comes smothered in truffle puree, truffle mayonnaise, and even real wild truffle shavings, atop its patty. They even have breakfast sandwiches for the early risers, such as the Egg Toast Avocado ($8.50) featuring creamy scrambled eggs in thick toast with avocado.

Or how about Korean-style fried chicken, if you’re not a fan of burgers? There’s its signature Yangnyeom Chicken (from $9.20 for 6 pieces) or its fiery cousin the Spicy Yangnyeom Chicken for those who like to set their insides on fire, both of which are perfect washed down with beer (in fact, you’ll find that the spicy fried chicken demands it). There’s the 777, a refreshing lager, or the Hong Kong Gal Rae?, a pale ale, as house beers to choose from. For a great deal there’s a 2L tower option at just $49 per tower, or $88 for two towers.

And very rare for a casual fast food burger joint, Burger+ actually offers cocktails too. The Haribo Ju ($18) is a fun, sweet concoction that actually taste like the gummy bears, while Miss Korea ($18) is somewhat like a gin sour with pureed strawberries in it. Korean fried chicken and champagne can be a thing here too; up the class by pairing fried chicken with a Moët Brut ($145) or a Moët Brut Rose ($165).

But what makes Burger+ at Clarke Quay Central special is that it opens late; unlike the Wisma Atria outlet that closes at 10pm, here it opens till 1am on most days, and 3am on Fridays and Saturdays. This makes it a really attractive supper option for party goers in the nearby Clarke Quay and Boat Quay entertainment enclaves. Even better, here there’s really nothing stopping you from having their breakfast options late at night, or fried chicken – and beer – when they open their doors in the morning.

We’d have to say a meal here – with its pumping K-pop tunes, gaudy neon lights and flashing widescreen TVs – isn’t quite everybody’s thing. But for those who love Korean pop culture and fast food (and is of drinking age) Burger+ combines all that and more for a great time. 행쇼!
