The Macallan unveils Sir Peter Blake: The Macallan Anecdotes of Ages Collection Gallery, an art and whisky exhibition at Raffles Hotel Singapore showcasing its third collaboration with the renown British pop artist.

The Macallan always had an affinity for art, and its latest fling with the visual arts sees the leading whisky brand open a pop-up gallery showcasing its third collaboration with renown British pop artist Sir Peter Blake. “Sir Peter Blake: The Macallan Anecdotes of Ages Collection Gallery” is a visual and digital gallery showcase in Raffles Hotel Singapore, a refresh of the space that previously hosted its multi-sensory pop-up The Macallan Experience.

This latest exhibition is really a tribute to pioneering artist Sir Peter Blake – who is considered the father of British pop art – and with whom The Macallan has worked with for over thirty years. Sir Peter is best known for creative works such as co-designing the album sleeve for the Beatle’s Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, as well as album designs for other music greats such as The Who, Eric Clapton, and Oasis, among others.

Part of The Macallan Anecdotes of Ages Collection Gallery takes you through the distillery’s history.

More importantly the exhibition acts as a showcase of The Macallan Anecdotes of Ages Collection, a set of thirteen exceptional one-of-a-kind 1967 whiskies. Each of these bottles feature an original Sir Peter Blake collage art on the label, detailing unique stories relating to The Macallan’s history, community, and the beautiful natural landscape that surrounds The Macallan Estate.

The Macallan Anecdotes of Ages Collection is Sir Peter Blake’s third collaboration with The Macallan. Back in 1986 he helped The Macallan design a bespoke label for The Macallan 1926, taking inspiration from events in that era. In 2012 they worked together on “The Macallan Sir Peter Blake Celebrate Eight Decades”, is a highly sought-after limited-edition collaboration whisky set.

“Each collage in the Anecdotes of Ages Collection is inspired by The Macallan’s history and heritage, one that respects time and craft, two essential components of my own creative process,” Sir Peter Blake shared. “I meticulously worked on each collage, pulling from The Macallan Estate’s rich history to complete a collection that is a celebration of art and whisky.”

“This exceptional 1967 whisky was chosen for its classic yet distinctively colourful character, which is reminiscent of Sir Peter Blake’s work of the same year,” explained Sarah Burgess, Lead Whisky Maker at The Macallan. “With notes of oak and fig leading to a burst of hazelnut and strawberry, this is a truly special single malt that finishes with complex flavours of chocolate and lightly spiced peach. It is in many ways, its own work of art.”
