MO Bar officially kicks off its Nomadic Cocktail Odyssey initiative, with its debut collaboration featuring four highly-rated Hong Kong bars.

Cocktail lounge MO Bar over at Mandarin Oriental Singapore have always had a nomadic spirit when it comes to curating its cocktails. Its debut cocktail menu when it first launched in late 2018 was an eclectic look at the flavours of Asia, which was followed by a “Nomadic Foragers” set of cocktails created in collaboration with top bars and bartenders in the region that explored provenance and wayfaring cultures.

In line with that spirit of exploration and collaboration, MO Bar has launched its seasonal Nomadic Cocktail Odyssey series, an initiative that will see it tie up with various bars from around the region and offer their cocktails for a limited time. The first in the series sees MO Bar travel to Hong Kong this month, where it will partner up with four top-rated cocktail bars – COA, Tell Camellia, The Diplomat, and The Aubrey – in collaboration with Bacardi.

For the month of July, aside from its regular cocktail menu MO Bar will be presenting a special Nomadic Cocktail Odyssey menu with four drinks – La Fresa by Jay Khan of COA Hong Kong, Tuxedo +852 from The Diplomat’s John Nugent, T-groni by Sandeep Hathiramani of Tell Camellia, and Endgame from Devender Sehgal of The Aubrey. So while we’re not able as yet to travel to Hong Kong and check out its cocktail bar scene, you can still try some of their cocktails right here in Singapore.

COA Hong Kong was crowned as Asia’s best bar on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2021 list this year, and for this menu it’s presenting La Fresa, which is essentially a tequila and tonic. This refreshing highball is made with Patron Silver, Joven Mezcal, strawberry, pink peppercorn, and topped off with London Essence Indian Tonic Water.

MO Bar Nomadic Cocktail Odyssey The Diplomat Tuxedo +852
The Tuxedo +852 from Hong Kong’s The Diplomat, one of the four cocktails showcased at MO Bar’s inaugural Nomadic Cocktail Odyssey collaboration series this July.

Tuxedo +852 from John Nugent of The Diplomat – No. 20 on Asia’s 50 Best 2021 – on the other hand is a short punchy number; this Martini comprising of Star of Bombay, dry vermouth, maraschino, pear, and orange bitters is layered complexity. Then there’s the T-groni from Sandeep Hathiramani of Tell Camellia (No.23 on Asia’s 50 Best). This intensely herbal Negroni puts together Bombay Sapphire gin, Mezcal, Campari, and sweet vermouth, and harnesses smoky notes from Lapsang Souchong tea.

Finally we have the Endgame by Devender Sehgal of The Aubrey, one of the newest bars in Hong Kong’s cocktail scene. This chess-inspired cocktail sees Patron Silver, Campari, wasabi, sweet vermouth and sansho pepper combined for a spicy take on the Negroni.

This Hong Kong edition of MO Bar’s Nomadic Cocktail Odyssey series will run for the month of July 2021, with the four special cocktails available at S$22++ each. Reservations are highly recommended.
