Mr. Bucket Chocolaterie collaborates with Laut for Mr Bucket x Laut, a cocktail-inspired limited edition chocolate bon bon set.

We normally don’t have a sweet tooth; we even draw the line at exceedingly sweet cocktails like the Singapore Sling. But when it comes to chocolate? And especially those with booze? Let us at it. So imagine our excitement when our favourite chocolatiers Mr. Bucket Chocolaterie announced that they were partnering up with one of our most beloved local cocktail bars Laut to create some really special bon bons.

Enter Mr Bucket x Laut, a chocolate bon bon gift set featuring three different flavours as well as miniature bottles of Laut’s most popular cocktails they are inspired by.

If you’re not familiar with Laut, the contemporary Asian cocktail gastrobar tells the story of our region’s food and culture through its food and drink. Their cocktails in particular lean heavily on our region’s indigenous ingredients and produce, and concocted using cutting-edge molecular mixology techniques.

And then there’s artisanal small batch chocolate maker Mr. Bucket, which popped up in Singapore’s dessert scene late last year offering a quirky range of tasty bon bons and quickly became a darling. What makes them particularly unique is that they source their cacao from across Asia, particularly Malaysia and India.

Mr Bucket x Laut bon bons and cocktails
The Mr Bucket x Laut limited edition bon bons are inspired by the best-selling cocktails at modern cocktail gastrobar Laut.

The bon bons in the Mr Bucket x Laut gift set consists of three flavours – Grass, Pineapple, and Banana. The Grass bon bon takes the lemongrass, wheatgrass, and pandan-based kombucha used in the cocktail and turns it into a gel for the filling, while its 72% dark accompanying ganache is made with cacao sourced from Sungai Ruan, Pahang.

Pineapple on the other hand takes the reduces the tepache used in Laut’s cocktail of the same name into a syrup for the filling. Its 64% dark chocolate ganache is made using cacao beans sourced from Panchor, Malacca. Then there’s Banana, which upcycles banana peels (normally thrown away) into a caramel and then paired with a rum-infused 80% dark chocolate ganache made with cacao beans sourced from Anaimalai Hills, India.

Mr Bucket x Laut is not the chocolatier’s first alcohol-related collaboration. They previously tied up with Campari for Negroni Week, and most recently partnered with Glenfiddich for a limited edition whisky-infused gift set for Father’s Day.

The Mr Bucket x Laut cocktail bon bon gift set – consisting of six bon bons of three different flavours, and miniature cocktail bottles of Grass, Pineapple, and Banana – is available online from both Mr. Bucket and Laut at the price of S$55.
