Negroni Week this year is an extended drinking affair that will run from 13 to end September 2021 with over 40 venues in Singapore participating.

Negroni Week, the cocktail festival celebrating all things Negroni, is returning this year with a vengeance. While Negroni Week last year was a muted affair limited by the raging coronavirus pandemic, Negroni Week 2021 will see over 40 Singapore bars and restaurants pay tribute to the iconic Italian aperitivo cocktail this month of September. Even better, Negroni Week this year has been similarly extended to two weeks (as it was last year).

First started in May 2013 by Imbibe Magazine and presented by Campari, this year’s Negroni Week is the ninth-ever and the seventh edition to take place in Singapore. But this year’s celebration of the Negroni takes on particularly poignant meaning in Singapore, with an industry that’s been heavily battered with multiple lockdowns and safe distancing measures imposed because of the ongoing health pandemic gamely celebrating the festival despite the odds.

Negroni Week 2021 is a clarion call by Campari to all cocktail-loving tipplers (especially those who love the Negroni) to head back and support these participating venues. And this year there are plenty to choose from; with over 40 Singapore bars and restaurants listed on the Negroni Week website.

The more interesting Negroni Week promotions lined up?

Raffles Hotel Singapore is celebrating Negroni Week at not just one or two of its venues, but a whopping four of them – Writers Bar, Osteria BBR by Alain Ducasse, Raffles Courtyard, and Long Bar. Visit all four bars to complete a set of four stamps and you’ll be gifted with a bottled Negroni by the hotel.

Over at Smoke & Mirrors, aside from their Negroni twist the Jolly Roger they are offering a special cocktail flight of four different takes on the classic aperitivo. Speakeasy bar Roxy too is offering three different Negronis – The Classic, You Don’t Have To Put On That Red, and Papa Was A Rolling Stone – that you can enjoy on-site but also have delivered for your home drinking pleasure.

The Dark Corner Negroni Ale, a collaboration beer between Heart of Darkness Singapore, Campari and The General Brewing Co, is a red ale that’s been spiked with Campari.

And for something really offbeat, gastrobar Heart of Darkness Singapore – in collaboration with The General Brewing Co – have concocted a special brew, the Dark Corner Negroni Ale, to celebrate the occasion. Not only that, proceeds from its sale will go to helping a few Bangkok cocktail bars that’s been struggling in their version of a COVID lockdown.

In fact Negroni Week is more than just about drinking Negronis; it was set up as an international charity initiative for the bar community to give back to society. For example, The Spot – where you can find three Negronis, the Negroni Classico, Barred Aged Negroni, and Tale of Spice offered as part of Negroni Week – will be contributing $5 for every Negroni sold to Little Free Library. Likewise part of the proceeds from the sale of Caffe Fernet’s featured Negroni Giardino will go to the Singapore Association For Mental Health.

So this Negroni Week, remember to raise a Negroni at home or at your favourite watering hole. You’ll help the local cocktail bar scene and the various charities they’ll be supporting this year. Plus you have more than a week to do it, too.
