The new Bruichladdich Micro Provenance Single Cask for Singapore is its second dedicated release for Southeast Asia.

The second-ever exclusive release from Bruichladdich as part of its Micro Provenance Single Cask series for Southeast Asia is now available in Singapore. Cask 0315 (62.5% ABV), which comes after Cask 1898 that was released last year, is a second-fill Syrah barrel that held unpeated Bruichladdich (Bere barley) for ten years. As with all its single casks, quantities are limited. In this case, only 282 are available for sale in Singapore.

Bruichladdich only sets aside a handful of such casks every year. For 2022, 20 casks will be released across 10 countries, and Singapore has been allocated one. This year, bottles of Cask 0315 will feature another bit of personalisation: a red Merlion head on the bottle.

Unlike the standard range of Bruichladdich offerings, the Micro Provenance represents pretty much the concept of ‘anything goes’ – Bruichladdich says that there are over 200 distinctive types of casks in the warehouses. The barrels that make the cut for the Micro Provenance range are all chosen by Head Distiller Adam Hannett, who looks for one-of-a-kind expressions.

“At Bruichladdich, my role is to guide and shape these whiskies to express their provenance and terroir, rather than try to wrestle the variation into a narrow yet consistent band of flavour,” says Hannett. “Experimenting with age, storage location, cask type, and other variables translate into the highly unique characteristics in our casks – full of character, flair and attitude.”

Bruichladdich Micro Provenance Single Cask 0315 with canister
At the price of S$268 the Bruichladdich Micro Provenance Single Cask 0315 is going to be quite the collectible.

This is a pretty wine-heavy expression that might be a bit much for those who have more traditional tastes, but this one reveals a rather excellent cask. Do note that this whisky needs time to breathe, or it’ll feel just like any other whisky with heavy wine cask influence, albeit one that’s much ‘cleaner’. With some air and water, the dark fruits become less heavy-handed and the flavours start to peel off. Feel free to experiment with adding water and see how it develops; in my opinion, this is the best way to experience 0315. It’s not an easy-going daily drinker, but it’s something that you nurse through the night as you explore its layers. Patience is key.

Bruichladdich Micro Provenance Cask 0315 is priced at S$268 for a 700ml bottle at One Cellar, its online exclusive retailer. However, you can buy it at a special discounted price of S$255 if you purchase it before 18th May 2022 with the promo code BRUMPSG. Bottle retail platform One Cellar also offers a special bundle (six sets available) for collectors, which also includes the Classic Laddie, Port Charlotte 10YO, Octomore 10YO along with two branded ice moulds and two branded nosing glasses.
