Dive into Oktoberfest festivities with Brotzeit and Frieda this year for some seasonal German cuisine and beers.

We’re right smack in Oktoberfest season! Oktoberfest returns to Munich for the first time after two pandemic years, but if you can’t make your way to Germany there are still ways to celebrate this beer-drenched folk festival right here in Singapore.

We share our two favourite ways.

Brotzeit Oktoberfest - Barrel Tapping

Zicke Zacke your way to Brotzeit

We’ll say it – Brotzeit throws possibly the most authentic Oktoberfest parties in Singapore. We love how the casual German restaurant chain has celebrated the festival here over the years, its various outlets across town brimming with seasonal goodies – such as burgeoning Oktoberfest platters – in epic proportions, along with copious amounts of festbier.

This year’s Oktoberfest celebrations will again see Brotzeit pull out all the stops. Expect special Brotzeit ‘Party Days’ that include keg tapping ceremonies and Oompah music on certain days, for example.

But it’s the delectable classic Oktoberfest fare we look forward to here. There’s the returning seasonal favourite of Nürnberger Stadtwurst served with sauerkraut, roast potatoes and onion mustard, which we love. New dishes making their debut include the Gebackenes Wiesnhendl of fried chicken served with potato salad and field salad, the Bayrischer Schweinskrustenbraten of pork belly served with sauerkraut, red cabbage, as well as bread and potato dumplings, as well as Bayrischer Leberkäse, which is classic meatloaf served with creamy spinach, mashed potato and a sunny-side-up egg.

Yet Brotzeit will be dialling down its Oktoberfest authenticity just a little. Unlike previous years, this year its festbier is the Erdinger Oktoberfest beer, a full-bodied and lively wheat beer is well-balanced with smooth malt aromas and a pronounced hop bitterness available only for the season. But seasoned festgoers know that only beer from six breweries located within Munich are approved for Oktoberfest celebrations (and Erdinger, located in Erding over 30km away from Munich, isn’t one of them).

That said, Brotzeit is still going to offer you the best Oktoberfest experience in Singapore.

Brotzeit’s Oktoberfest celebrations will take place from now to 24 October 2022.

Oktoberfest at Frieda German Restaurant 2022

‘Ein Prosit!’ to Oktoberfest at Frieda German Restaurant on weekends

Another fun – if slightly more sedate and elegant – way to celebrate Oktoberfest is at Frieda German Restaurant, located at the arcade of The Capitol Kempinski. The German-themed restaurant is offering its own unique spin on the volksfest experience right in the heart of Singapore’s civic district by transforming its space into an indoor beer garden where guests can party in Oktoberfest style.

Frieda’s seasonal Oktoberfest food menu include the Vesper Platter with a curated selection of assorted cold cuts and cheeses, the ever-popular Schweinsaxe of crispy pork knuckle, as well as the Traditionelle Käsespätzle, a traditional German egg noodles topped with cheese and smoked salmon.

What’s really special though about the Oktoberfest celebrations at Frieda? It’s a fixed price of S$108++ per person for free-flow food and Oktoberfest beer. Even better, there’s a lucky draw in which guests stand a chance to win a 3D2N stay at the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski Munchen, located in the vibrant city of Munich!

Freida’s Oktoberfest celebrations will run every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 7pm to 945pm from now till 1 October 2022. For more information or reservations, please visit +65 6715 6873 or email frieda.singapore@kempinski.com.
