For its last seasonal burger of the year, Wildfire Burgers has partnered Bjorn Shen of Artichoke for the Triple Cheese Banjir Burger, available now till 18 December 2022.
“It’s gonna get messy” goes the tagline of one fast food burger chain.
Well we may have just found one burger that’s way messier than anything that chain can dish out – the Triple Cheese Banjir Burger. This burger is a collaboration between Wildfire Burgers and Bjorn Shen of Artichoke, whom some may know for his stints as judge on MasterChef Singapore.
If you’ve been following the chef-owner of Artichoke (particularly on Instagram), you may be familiar with his eccentricities with cooking and eating. His style of cooking, which he fondly terms ‘dudestronomy’, often mashes up cuisines, ingredients and cooking techniques you wouldn’t believe belong together.
Until you taste it.
As such the Triple Cheese Banjir Burger is 100% Bjorn Shen. This decadent burger is a perfectly stacked charcoal-grilled USDA-certified Black Angus, halloumi cheese, American cheese, sumac-seasoned onions, sliced tomato, and caramelised onion between butter-toasted buns.
But that’s not where the magic ends. This is then finished off table side, utterly drenched with Artichoke’s signature red pepper sauce as well as cheese sauce. Because, if you know your Malay, banjir means flood or overflow, like how your prata is smothered in curry in a prata banjir.
It may also be our favourite Wildfire Burgers collaboration yet, just edging Annette Tan’s Fatfuku Burger by a whisker.
This burger is so insanely messy it demands utensils for proper consumption. But collaborator Shen encourages diners to use their hands instead. In fact, he’s even put up a challenge for you to attack this burger without cutlery and hands behind your back. So yes, he’s asking you to eat with your face.
