Vinexpo Asia 2023, scheduled to be held in Singapore this May, will bring together nearly 1,000 exhibitors from across 35 different countries.

Mega wine trade exhibition Vinexpo Asia returns after a four-year absence, with the upcoming edition taking place in Singapore from 23 to 25 May 2023. Held in Hong Kong since 1998, this is the first time that Vinexpo Asia – Asia’s largest B2B show focused around the wine trade – will take place in the Lion City.

Vinexpo Asia organisers Vinexposium first confirmed the show’s move to Singapore back in 2022. Vinexposium CEO Rodolphe Lameyse then revealed that ‘various developments in Hong Kong’ had encouraged the relocation to Singapore.

Lameyse shared at a press conference last month that Vinexpo Asia 2023, to be held at Marina Bay Sands, will bring together nearly 1,000 exhibitors from 35 different countries. He expects over 8,000 trade visitors – primarily from China, South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan and Thailand – to visit the show over the course of three days.

The Vinexposium CEO also declared the United States to be the ‘country of honour’ for the upcoming show, which will see California Wines, Oregon Wine Board, and Washington Wine partner up for a joint pavilion to represent the diversity of wines coming out of the three American winemaking regions. Other country pavilions include those of Argentina, Australia, Chile, and Italy, while Spain, China, Portugal, Germany, Austria, South Africa, the UK, Israel, Canada among others will be represented by individual exhibitors.

One of the major components of Vinexpo Asia will be Vinexpo Academy, which will feature a lineup of activities built around wine education. Among the activities held as part of Vinexpo Academy include wine masterclasses by Argentina’s Catena Zapata, Wines of Australia, Riedel, Italy’s Gambero Rosso, Austrian Wine, and California Wine Institute, among many others. Other key events include the Vinexpo Challenge held in partnership with the International Sommelier Association, a ‘Battle of the Sommeliers’, as well as a sharing on global and Asian consumption trends by drinks market research company IWSR. The Drinks Business will also celebrate its Drinks Business Asian Awards at Vinexpo Asia 2023, while Star Wine List will present its Star Wine List of the Year awards programme as well.

Moving from a fully B2B model for the first time, Vinexpo Asia will also partner wine experts Bettane+Desseauve to present a public tasting event.

“The challenge very quickly became an obvious choice because Singapore is now one of the gateways to Asia. Its strategic location makes it a hub of regional and global trade and its business model revolves, among other things, around a very open-minded approach to international trade,” shares CEO of Vinexposium Rodolphe Lameyse regarding the first-ever Vinexpo Asia in Singapore.

“Our desire to be part of this movement and to benefit from its dynamic sales environment is fully understood by our customers. Singapore was the best opportunity we could offer them in 2023, at a key time for returning to Asia,” Lameyse added.
