Luxury serviced residences and hotel Dao by Dorsett ATMD Singapore in Shenton Way offers 268 fully-serviced rooms catered to travellers as well as those looking for short and extended premium stays.

What used to be Oakwood Premier AMTD Singapore on Shenton Way is now Dao by Dorsett AMTD Singapore. Officially opened in August 2022, Dao by Dorsett’s first and flagship Singapore property not only took over and rebadged the luxury serviced residences and hotel, but also made it even more premium than before.

Located within OUE Downtown along Shenton Way in the heart of Singapore’s Central Business District, Dao by Dorsett AMTD Singapore offers an entire suite of room types for guests in need of different accommodation options. So you’re likely to see, on its seventh floor lobby, a mixed bag of lifestyle guests ranging from families of tourists and the random honeymooning couple, to corporate travellers who are on an extended business stay.

We had the opportunity to stay in the One-Bedroom Premier Suite at Dao by Dorsett AMTD Singapore. One of the eight room types offered at the ‘aparthotel’, this comes in at a luxurious 53 to 58 square metres. Designed specifically for couples as well as business executives, the room comes as a large bedroom with en-suite bathroom, a good-sized living room, as well as a small but fully-equipped kitchenette. The interiors and furnishings are plush and tasteful, but also very well designed to maximise the use of space.

The kitchenette is the first thing you see when you enter. When we say the room comes well-equipped, it really is. Induction hobs allow you to do light to medium cooking, and there’s even a SMEG oven if you feel the need to bake. A full-sized refrigerator – hidden inside a kitchen closet – can hold enough fresh food to last you for weeks. There’s a fancy bread toaster too, aside from the usual coffee machine and kettle. And there’s plenty of storage space in case you need it.

And while most serviced apartments and even the most luxurious of hotels provide you a pair of wine glasses in your room (in some hotels you’ll have to request from the front desk), here we found an impressive set of comprising white wine glasses, red wine glasses, and even a pair of snifters that’ll be perfect for your Cognac or single malt whisky.

Truly, the comforts of home away from home.

As for the bedroom? We loved the luxurious king-sized bed, but what we like about the room is how different it looks day and night. During the day, you can swing the curtains wide open to take in natural sunlight – and the lovely panoramic view of Singapore’s financial and shipping heart – through its large windows. Come evening, shut them and the room turns into a cosy (and romantic) room perfect for Netflix and chill.

And if you’re the type who needs to work from a hotel room? You’ll be glad to know the room comes with a study desk large enough for four chairs. In fact, there’s a separate study space in the bedroom for your companion as well, in case you both need to take remote work calls at the same time.

Most if not all of the hotel’s amenities are located on its seventh-floor lobby. The gym is on the small side, but there’s a fantastic full-length lap pool for those in need of a proper swim.

Collective is also located on this floor. This is where you find breakfast in the morning, cocktails and canapés during happy hour, but converts into a full-service restaurant come evening. If you dine here, we highly recommend the nasi lemak or the fish and chips.

Otherwise there is a myriad of dining options in the area. OUE Downtown itself houses many excellent eateries; there’s casual Japanese-Chinese eatery Chen’s Mapo Tofu, Indian restaurant Annalakshmi, and even Japanese omakase fine-dining restaurant Takayama, if you’re looking to splurge.

Further afield? The Amoy Street and Ann Siang Hill dining and nightlife enclaves are nearby. We love the casual raucous vibes at Shukuu Japanese Izakaya and Bar, the sophisticated Spanish tapas of Kulto, or contemporary steakhouse Meadesmoore for their alternative steak cuts.

For cocktails you’re going to be spoilt for choice. You’re looking at a slew of cocktail bars along Amoy Street alone with Native, Employees Only Singapore, Stay Gold Flamingo and the recently-opened Underdog Inn. Prefer vino? Head just a little further to Duxton Hill, where you’ll find Praelum Wine Bistro and natural wine bar KUMI DEN. It’s exactly this proximity that makes Dao by Dorsett AMTD Singapore an excellent base from where to explore the heart of Singapore.

We’d highly recommend you opt for Dao+ as well, a set of curated experiences designed to elevate your stay. You’re looking at additional in-room amenities like quality teas from TWG Tea, fine coffee from Bacha Coffee, and a seasonal fruit box by purveyors Avo & Co, discounts off private transfer services, as well as inclusive of cocktails and canapés at Collective early evenings, among other add-ons.

There are plenty of customisation options too, so you can tailor your stay to your specific needs. Partnerships with Le Petit Society, for example, offer a suite decked out by the award-winning local children’s clothing retailer that will be perfect for young families, while tie-ups with Absolute Cycle and Haus Athletics means plenty of classes nearby within OUE Downtown for exercise fiends.

Another fun fact. Dao by Dorsett AMTD Singapore runs this cute little plant library, where you can actually ‘rent’ a plant to bring back to your room. And for pet owners, the aparthotel is also pet-friendly and offer packages for dogs weighing up to 15kg.
