Bar and beverage trade show Bar Convent Berlin comes to Singapore with an inaugural edition that is set to take place on 6 and 7 November 2023 at Pasir Panjang Power Station.

Professionals in the bar industry will be familiar with Bar Convent Berlin, one of the leading trade conventions for the global bar and beverage industry. Held since 2007, Bar Convent grew from strength to strength beyond Germany by adding BCB Brooklyn in New York, United States and BCB São Paulo in Brazil over the years.

The latest in its international expansion? Earlier this year it announced Bar Convent Singapore, marking the trade show’s first foray into the Asia Pacific region. Set to take place on 6 and 7 November 2023, Bar Convent is positioning the inaugural Singapore edition to act as the catalyst of growth for the bar and beverage industry in Asia, serving as a premier platform for passionate industry professionals to share knowledge and drive innovation in the sector.

“BCB Singapore is the first event of its kind dedicated to Asia’s bar and beverage industry, promising to deliver a curated schedule of educational sessions and networking opportunities, a rich array of leading and emerging craft brands, and a whole wealth of knowledge and expert insights, all within one single venue,” said Henry Stonham, Senior Project Manager of BCB Singapore.

For the first-ever Bar Convent Singapore, the two-day event will feature an extensive lineup of education sessions led by over 40 renowned international bartenders and industry experts, anchored around an exhibition of over 150 global brands offering a wide array of tasting masterclasses, onsite and offsite guest shifts, as well as a plethora of networking opportunities and activities.

The event highlight is themed “Homegrown Heroes”, where bar teams from various Asian countries – including ReCraft from the Philippines, Hybrid from Vietnam, Penrose from Malaysia, and Lost in Thaislation from Thailand – partner in a series of exclusive guest shifts with their nation’s counterparts currently working in Singapore, showcasing a fusion of talents and experiences that Asia has to offer.

Renowned figures in the global bar scene will be present to drive many of these masterclasses and workshops. These include Michael Callahan, managing director of the Compound Collective and founding bartender of 28 HongKong Street; Monica Berg, co-owner of Tayēr + Elementary and creative director of Campari Academy; and Lorenzo Antinori, founder of Bar Leone and Lorenzo Antinori Studio.

And of course, there’s the exhibition proper. Attendees can look forward to an impressive showcase featuring an extensive selection of craft and premium spirits, mixers, beers, sakes, cutting-edge technology, and equipment, with market leaders like The Botanist, Monkey 47, and Campari present, as well as a Japan Pavilion bringing together over 20 Japanese producers of sake, shochu, craft beer, awamori and other traditional spirits.

Aside from the onsite activities, cocktail revellers can expect at least ten official guest shifts taking place across the Lion City from Sunday 5 November as part of Bar Convent Singapore. In collaboration with acclaimed bars, the guest shifts include KI NO BI and Monkey Shoulder 47 at Manhattan Bar featuring Rogerio Igarashi of Bar Trench, Tokyo; Flor de Cana at Smoke & Mirrors featuring Crimson Room, Bangkok; and Proof & Company’s closing party at 28 HongKong Street featuring Beckaly Franks.
