This a la carte weekend brunch at 1-Arden combines contemporary Australian dishes from Kaarla with modern Japanese kappo-style delights by Oumi.

The weekend fast approaching and you’re looking for options for boozy brunch options? While we do like the ubiquitous hotel buffets, those can get monotonous really quickly. But here’s one we visited recently that we think you might really enjoy – the weekend  brunch at Kaarla and Oumi.

While contemporary Australian restaurant Kaarla and modern Kappo eatery Oumi normally operates separately on regular days – even if both 1-Group concepts effectively share the same venue – during the weekends together they combine to offer a unique a la carte buffet brunch. What’s particularly compelling? This brunch curates a small selection from both Kaarla’s and Oumi’s regular menus – effectively creating a tasting menu that combines elements from both restaurants – while offering various brunch favourites as well.

From Kaarla we get its contemporary Aussie flair with dishes like the Kaarla Closed Loop Salad, La Latteria Burrata, Bucatini Pasta and Roasted Angus Sirloin Beef, among a spread of gut-busting options, while Oumi offers its beloved entrees the likes of Kajiki Tataki, Momotaro Fruit Tomato, and Pitan Tofu.

Then there are a load of brunch specials too. The Kaarla Wagyu Burger “With The Lot” is ridiculously popular with the brunch crowd, especially the kids, while those who love their Japanese feeds can indulge in free-flow sushi rolls – such as the Tempura Futo Roll and Spicy Tuna Roll – and sushi bowls like Tuna Poke and Bara Chirashi.

If you prefer bar bites to pick over while washing down with your free-flow wine or cocktails? There’s even a section for that, which includes truffle fries, tori karaage, assorted tempura, fried chicken wings and other indulgent options.

And then there’s the booze. Aside from the usual alcoholic options, the Kaarla and Oumi weekend brunch offers a small selection of cocktails from both restaurants, such as Coastal Isles and The Oumi Bloom. But where it really shines is its wine selection, which is more adventurous than most (especially for weekend brunch). On the day we visited, there was even a funky Japanese pét nat rose being poured.

The Kaarla Oumi weekend brunch costs S$88++ per person, with a supplement of S$78++ for free-flow alcoholic beverages including cocktails, wines, spirits and beer. Kids eat at S$44++ per child, while those under six years old dine free. Some dishes require supplemental fees.
