Located at the confluence of Havelock Road and Robertson Quay, Fraser Residence River Promenade offers luxurious riverside living and excellent amenities for the perfect medium- to long-term stay.

What used to be iconic nightclub Zouk at Jiak Kim Street is now Fraser Residence River Promenade.

Those of us who partied regularly there during our youth may still recognise parts of the shell once belonged to the happening nightspot – particularly the iconic driveway and main entrance – but for all intents and purposes it is now a beautifully restored conservation building that so happens to house swankily new contemporary serviced accommodations under Fraser Hospitality. But if you’re too young to know where that is, the property sits  along the Singapore River on one idyllic (and more upscale) edge of the vibrant Robertson Quay enclave right next to Grand Copthorne Waterfront.

This used to be the main entrace of Zouk

And despite sitting at the intersection of the very busy Havelock and Kim Seng roads, Fraser Residence River Promenade is the epitome of calm and serenity. So much so your rest at any of the 72 fully-furnished serviced apartments is unlikely to be disturbed by the surroundings.

As with all serviced residences in Singapore, there is a minimum of six nights for all stays. Fraser Residence River Promenade offers six different room configurations. This ranges from the cosy Studio Deluxe (24 square metres) and a more spacious Studio Premier (32 square metres), to suite types such as One Bedroom Executive (40 square metres) and the even larger One Bedroom Premier (48 square metres).

One Bedroom Premier - bedroom

We had the privilege to check out the most lavish of the lot, the One Bedroom Premier. But aside from size, whichever room type you go with comes dripping with all the modern trappings and amenities you’ll need to make your stay very comfortable.

As with all proper serviced residences, our room came with a fully equipped kitchen – including a full-sized fridge which comes in truly useful for longer stays – along with a combo oven and Electrolux appliances for most moderate kitchen work. There’s an in-unit washer and dryer for laundry needs, which is very convenient.

A full 55″-sized television each in the bedroom and living room means couples don’t have to fight for the remote, though it’s hard to decide if you prefer to lounge in the plush king-sized bed or idle on the comfy Italian designer couch in the living room (obviously I sent the husband to the couch).

One Bedroom Premier - bathroom

You’ll love, as we did, the little touches.

You get premium filtered water direct from a separate tap next to the kitchen sink. An automated high-end coffee machine using Nespresso compatible capsules dispenses java anytime you need a pick-me-up. A Sterra air purifier ensures the air you breathe is more or less allergen free, which comes in particularly useful if you’re also bringing along your doggo (yes, the property is pet-friendly). Then there’s a small Bang & Olufsen bluetooth speaker that sits in the living room, yet its drivers powerful enough that you can hear your connected music even if you’re in the bathroom.

And speaking of the bathroom. The rain shower area is expansive, big enough to comfortably shower two people at the same time if you’re into such hijinks. And then dry your hair off in no time at the twin vanity with the in-room Dyson Supersonic hair dryer.

If there’s only one critique, it’s that you’ll need to double up the living room table as a study as the room doesn’t come with a work desk. If that’s critical for you, opt for the Studio Premier room instead which has a goodly-sized work area.

Fraser Residence River Promenade - The Living Room

As for facilities, Fraser Residence River Promenade houses a small yet well-equipped gym, along with the decent-sized lap pool for your regular swim routines or sunbathing needs. The serviced residence does not have a signature restaurant, although we hear that contemporary Asian restaurant Jiak Kim House is set to open here very soon.

But what it lacks in terms of dining is more than made up for with ‘The Living Room’. This is an extremely spacious lounge in the lobby – right behind the reception – that’s open to all residents at any time. Aside from being an excellent space to work from, here is where residents can avail themselves to complimentary daily breakfast as well as evening cocktails. Free-flow wine, canapes, and do-it-yourself cocktails? Yes, please.

Verdict

Fraser Residence River Promenade pretty much offers everything a medium- to long-term stayer would need. Coupled with excellent amenities, serene riverfront views – be sure to go for nice evening walks along the riverside stretch or provision a bike from the lobby to explore the neighbourhood – and excellent proximity to dining and recreational options at Robertson Quay, this high-end pet-friendly serviced residence is hard to beat. All reasons why Fraser Residence River Promenade was our pick for best stay.
