Cointreau is partnering 11 bars and restaurants across Singapore for an entire month-long promotion to celebrate World Margarita Day.
World Margarita Day normally falls on 22 February every year, but for this year Cointreau has announced a month-long celebration in Singapore in honour of the tequila-based cocktail.
The Margarita is one of the world’s best selling cocktails – mainly because it’s not only a very delicious drink, but also one that’s extremely easy to make. The classic Margarita is a very simple cocktail, composed of just tequila blanco, triple sec, lime juice, and salt; Cointreau, as one of the most widely available triple sec in bars, has become de rigueur orange liqueur in most margarita recipes since the cocktail’s creation more than 70 years ago.
To celebrate World Margarita Day here in Singapore, Cointreau has signed up with 11 bars and restaurants to roll out a month of activities and promotions from now till 19 March 2021. Each participating venue will offer the original Margarita, but also their own special twist on the classic. There will also be special giveaways as part of the month-long campaign, where the first 100 customers who purchase a Margarita cocktail from any participating outlets will win Cointreau merchandise, such as branded tote bags and beach hats.
The 11 participating venues are:

- Beats Bites and Cocktails
- Comida Mexicana
- Cuba Libre Café & Bar
- Foxtail
- Gem Bar
- Lucha Loco
- Super Loco Customs House
- Super Loco Robertson Quay
- Papi’s Tacos
- The Dragon Chamber
An example would be Lucha Loco at Duxton Hill, which is offering their El Classico Margarita, but also the Mexican Sling, a Singapore Sling and Margarita cocktail hybrid made with Cointreau, gin, mezcal, Benedictine DOM, Cherry Heering, and various juices.
But if you prefer to make your own Margaritas at home, it’s also a good time to purchase a bottle of Cointreau for this purpose. Retailers, including Cold Storage outlets at Northpoint, Takashimaya, United Square and more, will also offer a Scratch & Win lucky draw for any shopper who purchases a bottle of Cointreau; prizes include a one-night staycation at Sofitel Sentosa for two pax (including welcome Margaritas and breakfast), a voucher for two Margaritas at The Cliff or Le Bar, and a dinner for two at Panamericana including Cointreau cocktails (up to S$200 value).
