Local bottled cocktail brand GudSht finds a brick-and-mortar home in Jalan Besar with GudSht @ King George.

One of the silver linings in the dark cloud that was Singapore’s COVID-19 circuit breaker period last year was the emergence of homegrown bottled cocktail brand Gudsht by Elite Bar Solutions. With parties shut down to prevent coronavirus spread, the mobile bar provider and party organiser had turned to creating a range of fun and quirky bottled cocktails – with names like Unicorn Barf and Sangrila Utama – that consumers could order and have delivered for imbibing at home.

But the recent easing of social distancing and safe management measures meant that the opportunity to open up a physical space to showcase its cocktails was just too good to pass up. And that’s where GudSht @ King George comes in.

GudSht @ King George is the brand’s first-ever brick-and-mortar venue to peddle its cocktails. It shares the space with gastrobar The Refinery, where offer patrons some of its most popular OG cocktails sold since circuit breaker (such as the aforesaid Unicorn Barf and Sangrila Utama). But it’s also introduced two exclusive low-ABV cocktails just for GudSht @ King George. There’s the vodka-based Candie Crave for those with a sweet tooth, inspired by candy floss, gummy bears and the like, while on the other end of the scale is the savoury and spicy Pepper Me Up that’s concocted with soju, Japanese green tea, togarashi spice, and roasted seaweed, and balanced with a touch of sweetness from honey.

The cocktails at the shared space are offered in single 120ml serving sizes for easy enjoyment on site paired with the fusion Japanese bistro grub from The Refinery, but are also available from the bottle store to be purchased for takeaway.

“While GudSht began life as a delivery-only business focused on creating eclectic and quirky bottled cocktails to spread cheer during the dark days of Circuit Breaker and Phase One, we’ve always envisioned bigger and better things for the brand,” shared Denver Low, co-founder of GudSht.

“Like many other businesses, we’ve had to reinvent and pivot ourselves in recent months. Having embarked on collaborations with restaurants and made GudSht’s cocktails available to the public at Food Folks @ Lau Pa Sat, the opening of GudSht @ King George represents a natural evolution for the brand and we’re super excited to finally have a physical bar we can call our own and where everyone can come and sit down and enjoy our cocktails,” Low added.
