Raffles Courtyard taps Código 1530 Tequila for three-month cocktail collaboration

Raffles Courtyard partners with Código 1530 to present a special tequila-based cocktail menu available for the months of April to June 2021.

When it comes to tippling at Raffles Singapore, the one cocktail that comes to mind is the signature Singapore Sling that many go to enjoy at the Long Bar. But unbeknownst to many cocktail hounds, the alfresco Raffles Courtyard also has a beverage program that promotes various cocktails. Raffles Courtyard recently also started a special cocktail program, partnering a different spirits distributor every three months for an exclusive themed cocktail menu.

This quarter, Raffles Courtyard has partnered with official Singapore Código 1530 distributor Distilled LLP to present a fun selection of tequila-based cocktails. For those not familiar with Código 1530, it is actually co-owned by country music legend George Strait. It’s also one of the more innovative tequila brands around, largely leveraging on oak barrels which previously held Napa Valley wine. For example, its pink-hued Código 1530 Rosa sees its all-natural agave spirit rested in uncharred Napa Valley Cabernet French white oak barrels for a month, while its highly-rated Código 1530 Añejo sees the insides of the same kind of barrels for a period of 18 months.

For the next three months, Raffles Courtyard will offer a range of seven different Código 1530 tequila-based cocktails. A great – and most authentic – way to taste the the terroir in the tequila is the Código Tommy’s Margarita with its fresh and vibrant flavours. For something different, Code Red is a tequila twist on the New York sour, while San Lucas – made with Código 1530 Blanco, white vermouth, banana liqueur, Fernet Branca, and bitters – is as sweet yet spirit-forward as any. We also particularly enjoyed the Código Old Fashioned, which is a lovely take on the classic cocktail that eschews bourbon for tequila.

Every Thursday, a guest bartender will be invited to take centre-stage at the Código 1530 cart at Raffles Courtyard to shake up a storm. If you’re looking to try something a little different from a Singapore Sling, you now know where to go.
