The alcohol-free wine trend in Singapore takes a huge step forward as McGuigan Wines introduces in Singapore its new zero-alcohol wine range.
Australian wine company McGuigan Wines has launched in Singapore McGuigan Zero, its contemporary alcohol-free wine range. Comprising of three alcohol-free wines – the McGuigan Zero Sparkling, McGuigan Zero Shiraz, and the McGuigan Zero Chardonnay, this range from McGuigan will be sold exclusively at leading premium supermarket chain Cold Storage, and is among the first non-alcoholic wines to be available here in Singapore in a big way.
This move comes on the back of the increasing trend towards alcoholic-free tippling around the world, with consumers opting for more health-conscious options to maintain their well-being. In Singapore too, alcohol-free drinking has been on the uptrend in recent years, with many verticals in the alcohol industry getting their own zero-alcohol versions. Examples include the introduction of Heineken 0.0 and Carlsberg Alcohol Free in the beer segment, while non-alcoholic spirit brands Seedlip, Lyre’s, and Melati have also taken off in the cocktail segment.
McGuigan Wines – part of parent company Australian Vintage Limited, which also owns other wine brands such as Tempus Two, Miranda and Nepenthe – was originally a bulk wine supplier, but in recent years has transformed into a producer of quality branded wine under the leadership of Australian Vintage Limited CEO and chief winemaker Neil McGuigan. McGuigan Wines has nearly 30 years of experience in winemaking, with 20 years of that expertise using state-of-the-art spinning cone technology to make low- and no-alcohol wines.
In the making of low- and no-alcohol wines, regular wine is passed through a spinning cone column that helps filter out out volatile compounds and extract alcohol in a vacuum steam distillation process. This process is said to allow the removal of alcohol without compromising on flavour and texture.
The McGuigan Zero Sparkling is its non-alcoholic take on a classic sparkling wine, which the maker says offers aromatic notes of pear, green apple and lime with lively bubbles on the palate. The McGuigan Zero Chardonnay is the non-alcoholic version of the popular and versatile white wine grape, while the signature Australian red grape Shiraz is given an alcohol-free spin with the McGuigan Zero Shiraz.

McGuigan Wines is distributed in Singapore by Octopus Distribution Networks; the McGuigan range of non-alcohol wines are available at select Cold Storage outlets islandwide.
