Bottled cocktail brand Gudsht launches four new cocktails to celebrate Singapore’s upcoming National Day.

Singapore’s National Day is fast approaching, but with the COVID-19 epidemic still raging and putting a dampener on things it may feel like there’s little to celebrate. Indeed this year’s National Day Parade has even been postponed to a later date amidst a nationwide lockdown.

But local bottled cocktail brand Gudsht has introduced four new cocktails that may just put a smile on your face. Launched to commemorate Singapore’s 56th birthday, the four limited-edition Gudsht National Day cocktails celebrate all things Singaporean

Their names are, well, cheekily Singlish. There’s Shiok Sia, a creation that pays tribute to Singapore’s hawker culture and food. This puts together Haku Vodka, chrysanthemum tea, wolfberry syrup, rose syrup, and lime juice for something that tastes like a martini version of the chrysanthemum drink you find in hawker centres. Then there’s Lepak Ah – a concoction of Jim Beam White, Midori, Amaretto, and cranberry juice – which will cajole you to relax in one corner with its well-disguised spirit-forwardness.

Those who like their cocktails fruity will certainly enjoy Steady Lah. Made with Haku Vodka, Amaretto, Midori, orange juice, peach bitters, and plum bitters, this will appeal to Singaporeans like national TV character Phua Chu Kang – now internationally famous for his catchy tunes that have helped our efforts against both the original SARS and now COVID-19 – whose caricature is emblazoned on the label.

GudSht National Day cocktails - Swee Boh
GudSht’s limited edition Swee Boh celebrates Singapore’s iconic landmark, the Marina Bay Sands.

Finally there’s Swee Boh, inspired by iconic landmark Marina Bay Sands. This cocktail, made with Sauza Silver Tequila, red Sangria, lime juice, Grand Marnier, and agave syrup, tastes like a Sangria and Singapore Sling hybrid. It can be a bit saccharine sweet for some, but that’s probably intentional to poke fun at Singapore’s carefully cultivated global image.

“This year, we really wanted to create something special to celebrate Singapore and our people, having shown our strength, resilience, and discipline over the past year or so,” shares Turaiya Noor, Creative Cat at GudSht. “We thought there was no better way to do that than to launch not two, but four new cocktails inspired by some of our national treasures.”

These limited edition GudSht National Day bottled cocktails are each available from 26 July to 31 August on GudSht’s online store at S$15 (120ml) and S$28 (300ml). They are also available as part of a National Day bundle of all four cocktails at S$46 (120ml set), or S$96 (300ml set). They will also be available for sale on Deliveroo, GrabMart and Oddle.
