The House of Krug unveils two new expressions, the Grande Cuvée 171émé Édition and Rose 27émé Édition, at various Krug x Lemon gastronomic pairings in fine-dining establishments across town.

Trust Krug to understand the finer things in life. In this case, celebrating fine gastronomy.

Since 2015 the house of Krug has collaborated every year with some of the world’s best restaurants for amazing dishes built around one central ingredient. Ingredients over the years included the humble potato (2015), the ubiquitous egg (2016), the mushroom (2017), fish (2018), pepper (2019), and also rice (2022).

This year features the versatile lemon. In Singapore, Krug has challenged four local Krug Ambassades to utilise the vibrant citrus in creative dishes designed to pair well with two of its latest drops, the Krug Grande Cuvée 171émé Édition and Krug Rose 27émé Édition. The four Ambassades – Hashida, Zén, JAAN, and La Dame de Pic – will each offer their creations as part of an exquisite tasting menu paired with both Krug champagnes.

Krug x Lemon - JAAN

For Krug x Lemon, fine-dining Japanese omakase restaurant Hashida has introduced a refreshing if bizarre Lemon and Eggplant Tiramisu for dessert, and likewise modern European restaurant JAAN is also showcasing the citrus in dessert with its Lemon Eton Mess. On the other hand, contemporary European restaurant Zén and elegant nouveau French eatery La Dame de Pic will be highlighting Krug’s single ingredient this year through seafood with Zén’s lobster-based Sunshine on The Sea and La Dame de Pic’s John Dory.

As for the new champagnes? Both the Krug Grande Cuvee 171émé Édition and Krug Rosé 27ème Édition were composed around the 2015 harvest, a year marked by unprecedented heat and drought but was saved thanks to rain and more benign temperatures later in the year.

Krug x Lemon - Hashida

The Krug Grande Cuvee 171émé Édition itself is a remarkable blend of 131 wines from 12 different years, running from 2015 to 2000, resulting in a cuvée exploding with elegance and generosity in equal measure. The Krug Rosé 27ème Édition on the other hard is a careful curation of 38 reserve wines across nine different years from selected plots. Here you have a wine bubbling with beautifully-composed structure and an alluring spiciness that makes it perfect for pairing with food.

“At the House of Krug, we are proud to create and re-create the fullness of flavours and aromas that come with each edition of our Grande Cuvée and rosé through the careful blending of different plots of wines. We invite champagne lovers and diners alike to re-discover and appreciate our champagnes’ myriad of flavours brought out by the exquisite dishes by our Krug Ambassade Chefs in Singapore,” says sixth-generation Krug Director, Olivier Krug.
