Pullman Singapore Orchard in the heart of Singapore’s prime shopping district is a design-forward contemporary hotel built for the fashionista in mind.

This hotel is swanky.

Located in the heart of Singapore’s premium Orchard Road shopping district, Pullman Singapore Orchard is as fashion-forward as many of the high-end luxury boutiques it’s flanked by.

First opened in March last year, its debut represented the first-ever foray by Pullman Hotels & Resorts – a premium brand under sprawling hospitality group Accor – into Singapore. Taking over what used to be Grand Park Orchard, the first Pullman property draws inspiration the Lion City’s beating commercial and retail heart and weaves those haute couture threads into its design.

And uber fashionable it is.

You’ll feel like you’re stepping a luxury boutique when you first enter the stylish, modern lobby. Well coiffured staff greet you, even as your eyes take in the art and fashion artefacts liberally scattered across the lobby waiting area. You’ll certainly wonder if some less scrupulous guests have already walked off with some of those striking pumps, or that glitzy clutch bag.

Checking in was a breeze. The property is not just fashion forward, it’s also built with smart technology in mind. An example? There’s a fully contactless check-in option via the hotel’s mobile app. (You can also check out the same way.)

Pullman Singapore Orchard offers a total of 326 rooms across nine different room configurations, three of which are suite types. These range from the more petite Classic Room (26 square metres) and Superior Room (28 square metres) to the slightly more spacious Deluxe Premier Room (32 square metres). For those willing to splash the cash, the Pullman Suite (48 square metres) will make you feel like a visiting celebrity designer while the Presidential Suite (116 square metres) can even fit your crew of stylists and dressers for an after party.

Pullman Singapore Orchard - Club Residence

We had the opportunity to stay in the incredibly stylish Club Residence, which at 32 square metres may sound a bit snug but felt spacious due to clever design. In fact it’s a masterclass in aesthetic, from the stylish SoHo fittings – part industrial, part bohemian, part gilded flair, and all chic – to an en-suite bathroom that looks inspired by a celebrity dressing room complete with a vanity table sporting double mirrors with full fashion-style lighting.

We love the smart touches as well. Your app-enabled digital room key is nifty in case you lose your key card, while atmosphere automation means you can conveniently adjust lighting and temperature with just a few button presses. All the hotel’s services can also be accessed via the app.

We loved everything about the Club Residence except for one design flaw. Some of the Club Residence rooms feature a sunken living and bed area, a classy way to to create a subtle separation from the entrance and bathroom. Such multi-level design, interior designers will tell you, adds visual interest but is also useful in helping define distinct zones within the room. The problem is steps, which separates the two zones. Steps are normally fine, until you’re stumbling around for the bathroom in the dark or after an especially drunken night out. Then those steps become dangerous.

Archive Club

We heartily recommend the Club Residence, so if you have mobility challenges or poor spatial awareness, ask for the rooms that don’t have the sunken space. And thankfully, no other room configurations have that issue.

Another reason to stump up for a Club Residence room at Pullman Singapore Orchard? You guessed it, lounge access. The Archive Club is an vibrant yet cosy space, with tasteful ornamentation that add visual interest and pops of colour. We reckon a superstar designer’s inspiration room or design library in their sprawling studio office would look something like this. Here you can drop in for breakfast or evening cocktails, or just chill out any time of the day.

Eden Restaurant

As for facilities, Pullman Singapore Orchard is home to Eden Restaurant, a tasteful contemporary Asian restaurant, as well as Atelier Lounge, a cafe-bar hybrid offering coffee during the day but also some whimsically-fun cocktails come evening. And for who love to lounge by the water, P.S.O Beach Club is a cabana-lined lap pool – complete with swim up bar – that will have you jumping into the water faster than you can yell ‘copa!’.

Alternatively, there is no shortage of dining and recreational options available along Orchard Road. But you’re really just here for the shopping, amirite?

Verdict

Will we stay here again? Absolutely, yes. Pullman Singapore Orchard’s fashion-forward design makes you feel like you’re staying at some classy and quirky contemporary boutique hotel. Those in the creative fields – art, fashion, or design – will definitely appreciate the fine individual touches that make this property a beautiful whole. If you’re looking to do a stay in Singapore with plenty of couture shopping in mind, you really can’t do better than Pullman Singapore Orchard. Just don’t be that person who walks off – accidentally or on purpose – with those shoes and bags from the hotel lobby.
