Looking for some interesting Singapore craft brews? Here are some limited-edition craft beers from some of Singapore’s favourite breweries.

We love how Singapore’s craft beer scene has grown by leaps and bounds. In so many ways the beers created on our shores are beginning matching up with imported brews, especially in terms of quality and beer styles.

Aside from their core offerings, many local brewers are also creating fun, small-batch – sometimes one-off – beers to challenge themselves as well as to educate the beer-loving public that incredible span and depth that craft beer has to offer.

We look at some of the more interesting limited-edition Singapore craft beers recently released by our local breweries that you may just want to check out this year-end season.

The Brewerkz Master Series.

Singapore’s pioneering craft brewery Brewerkz has recently been on the bleeding-edge of beer innovation, releasing a slew of exciting beer styles and even special collaborations (such as this tie-up with Sentosa) to excite the palate of craft beer drinkers. But its latest release may just top them all – the Brewerkz Master Series.

The Master Series is a set of four special brews that explores both classic and modern beer styles through Brewerkz’s own lens. There’s the DCT, a triple NEIPA (New England India Pale Ale, in craft beer parlance). The juicy and tropical NEIPA has exploded in popularity in recent years, but a triple NEIPA – that is, one that comes in above 10% ABV – is one of the hardest beer styles to get right.

Then there’s Drunk Cru, a Belgian golden strong ale, as well as Black T, a Belgian dubbel; both are very traditional beer styles, but the Black T sees an infusion of Pu-er tea for an Eastern influence. Finally there’s Deer Kick. This is an imperial stout with a Southeast Asian influence through the use of coconut and Gula Melaka, as inspired by many desserts that can be found in our region.

Something else that’s special? The wooden box a set of these beers come in are made from recycled pallets in collaboration with Creuse.

The Brewerkz Master Series is available as a set of four beers at the price of S$88, and can be purchased from the official Brewerkz online store.

Limited edition Singapore beers - Brewlander x Sunbird Brewing Co Triple Threat IPA

Brewlander x Sunbird Brewing Co Triple Threat IPA

What’s better than a local craft beer? Why, a craft beer that’s the result of a collaboration between two of Singapore’s rising craft breweries – Brewlander and Sunbird Brewing Co has partnered up to create the Brewlander x Sunbird Brewing Co Triple Threat IPA.

This seasonal Triple India Pale Ale – clocking in at a massive 10% ABV – revisits the once-popular West Coast style TIPA. As you can imagine for this style this big beer is insanely hopped – with Idaho 7, El Dorado, Nelson Sauvin, Vic Secret, for you craft beer geeks – that balances big piney hoppiness with tropical juiciness.

According to Brewlander founder John Wei and Sunbird Brewing Co’s head brewer and director Clive Tan, the idea for Triple Threat came from the challenges that the F&B industry have been facing due to the ongoing pandemic. They seen how different industry players banded together to face and overcome this difficult period, and this strong brew is a tribute to that unity in strength.

Brewlander x Sunbird Brewing Co Triple Threat IPA is available on both Brewlander and Sunbird Brewing Company online stores, as well as CRIMSON by Sunbird and all good taprooms across the island.

Limited edition Singapore beers - Niang Brewery Co first anniversary beers

Niang Brewery Co First Anniversary Beers

Local craft beer label Niang Brewery Co recently celebrated its first anniversary in what its founder Mark Chen called “a year of hell” for F&B. To commemorate reaching their one year milestone, he’s decided to launch not just one, but three limited-edition brews.

While Niang Brewery Co is best known for infusing local flavours into their core beers – Confection Cure, for example, replicates the flavours of the traditional cheng tng dessert with the use of red dates and longans – these special releases are highly hopped up creations instead. There’s Block Catcher DDH Double IPA, that is, a beer that’s double dry hopped for maximum hop aromas, as well as Tamed Universe IPA, which employs a blend of three different hops for a strong grassy and citrusy bite. Finally the Five Stones Kveik Hazy Double IPA is a West Coast IPA and a New England style IPA hybrid that uses a special yeast to bring out tropical flavours.

Niang Brewery Co’s first anniversary beers are available on draft at good craft beer bars islandwide, such as Orh Gao Taproom, SG Taps, Yeastside, Freebird, and Good Luck Good Luck. They are also available in bottles from good craft beer retailers such as Temple Cellars, or online from Niang Brewery Co’s official online store.

Burger & Lobster x Off Day Lobster Saison Anniversary Beer

Burger & Lobster’s 10th anniversary beer by Off Day Beer Company

To celebrate a decade of serving up juicy lobsters and even juicier burgers, London-based Burger & Lobster has tapped Singapore-based brewery label Off Day Beer Company for a beer that reflected that incredible achievement.

The result? The limited-edition Burger & Lobster Lobster Saison. The saison is a classic Franco-Belgic beer style that was brewed during the winter months to be drunk by hardworking farmers in the coming summer. But here Off Day Beer Company makes it a Burger & Lobster special by steeping lobster shells during the boil, along with barley malt, wheat, hops, yeast, lemon zest, tarragon and black pepper to replicate the style.

If that sounds just a bit too offbeat, not to worry. The Lobster Saison is a refreshingly zesty beer with just the slightest hint of crustacean shell on the nose, but the flavours are cleanly and clearly a saison. This beer, as you can imagine, pairs beautifully with all the seafood dishes at Burger & Lobster.

The Burger & Lobster Lobster Saison is available from Burger & Lobster’s Raffles Hotel and Jewel Changi Airport at S$17++ per bottle, available while stocks last.
