Rémy Martin launches its new 1738 Accord Royal in Singapore in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the classic Sidecar cocktail.

There are many origin stories attributed to the classic Sidecar cocktail, supposedly invented in the 1920s. But one of the more endearing ones has it named for the antics of a US Army officer who did a bar hop across Paris as a passenger in a motorcycle sidecar. Whatever its etymology, the Sidecar – a direct descendant of the Brandy Crusta comprising of brandy, triple sec and lemon juice – has entered cocktail history as one of its most well-loved tipples.

And if you love a Sidecar, here’s some good news. To celebrate the rough centennial of the Sidecar here in Singapore, Rémy Martin has unveiled its latest cognac, the Rémy Martin 1738 Accord Royal, that can be used to make a great Sidecar. Even better, the leading cognac brand has also tied up with six leading cocktail bars across town for the month of January where they will feature their own twist on the Sidecar using the Rémy Martin 1738 Accord Royal.
