Singapore Cocktail Takeover will take place from 1 to 12 May 2024 and will see 30 bars across the Lion City celebrate the best of Singapore’s cocktail culture.
We’ve got some good news and bad news.
The bad news is that there’s no Singapore Cocktail Festival this year. The leading regional cocktail celebration – which has been running since 2015 – earlier announced that it will be taking a break this year.
The good news, though? There are going to be cocktail festivities aplenty in its place. Enter Singapore Cocktail Takeover.
Set to be run from 1 to 12 May, Singapore Cocktail Takeover will be 12 days of cocktail-centred partying at some of Singapore’s best-loved and award-winning bars. Organised by a partnership between 30 bars, 21 spirits brands and a small group of industry volunteers, the campaign aims to put Singapore’s vibrant bar and cocktail culture up front and centre.
Over the course of the extended week, those 30 participating bars will each be putting out two signature cocktails at a special price of S$18++, as well as hosting numerous events such as guest shifts featuring some of the region’s top bar talent, cocktail brunches, masterclasses and more.
Just like Singapore Cocktail Festival was in its earliest days as Singapore Cocktail Week.
“We really want to celebrate an industry and community that has become one of the jewels in Singapore’s crown,” said Guoyi Gan, co-founder and Director of the Jigger & Pony Group, and one of the initiators of Singapore Cocktail Takeover. “Singapore has fallen in love with cocktails and cocktail culture over the last decade, and the result has been a thriving industry that brings in people from all over the world both to invest in, and visit our stunning bars.
“This May, a diverse group of these bars will be rolling out their best hospitality by offering new and unique cocktails at a special price, so that more Singaporeans can come bar-hopping and try cocktails whilst drinking a toast with our exceptional local bar fraternity,” Gan added.
Among the participating bars are some of the leading bars in Singapore, many of them lauded internationally in World’s 50 Best Bars and Asia’s 50 Best Bars such as Jigger & Pony, Nutmeg & Clove, No Sleep Club, Republic Bar, and Elephant Room. There’s also an entire slate of recently opened bars for new cocktail enthusiasts to check out, including Spectre, Draftland, Plume, Brooklyn Bar, Jungle Ballroom, and White Shades.
Some of these participating bars are set to offer exclusive cocktails specially created for Singapore Cocktail Takeover.
As for activities, expect guest shift galore during the Takeover. Taiwanese bars Moonrock, Slow Down, Bar Dip and Voiceover will be dropping into Nutmeg & Clove for a bar takeover, while Tokyo’s famous Bellwood will pop up at Jigger & Pony. For those who love their brunch, Republic will be offering a special ‘Punch Brunch’ on 11 May.
