Whisky Journey is a new two-day whisky festival taking place on 9 and 10 May this year that looks set to become a permanent fixture on Singapore’s drinking calendar.

Whisky lovers rejoice, for there’s a new whisky event in town. Whisky Journey, a two-day whisky festival organised by pioneering Singapore whisky purveyors The Whisky Store, will debut this coming May and looks to welcome over 40 exhibitors and brands offering over 400 different whisky expressions to the public. Set to become one of the largest whisky-focused events in Singapore alongside 10-year old Whisky Live, the event aims to cater to everyone – from those totally new to whisky, and all the way to expert connoisseurs.

To be held at the Suntec Convention & Exhibition Centre, Whisky Journey is aiming to tailor different experiences for different whisky enthusiasts. These range from interactive and educational sessions for casual explorers who want to gain a deeper understanding of the history of whisky, different production processes, and unique flavour profiles, to a special rare bottle ballot for whisky geeks. Those more into the cocktail scene are likely to be interested in a whisky cocktail competition for bartenders.

Exhibiting brands include Highland Park, Glenfiddich, Paul John, The Balvenie, Penderyn, The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, Bruichladdich, Bunnahabhain, and many more.

“Since we opened Singapore’s first whisky bar in 2006, we have been heartened to see how the community of whisky lovers in Singapore has grown and developed,” shares Khoon Hui, CEO of The Whisky Store. The Whisky Store is owned and operated by TSH, which also runs Quaich Bar at Havelock Road, Quaich Bar at South Beach Avenue, as well as gastrobar Copper at Lanson Place. “Whisky Journey is the natural next step in our commitment to expanding the appeal and appreciation of whisky to the younger generations and providing them opportunities to explore this wonderland of whisky.”

“Whisky Journey is for everyone on the journey of whisky discovery,” adds Matthew Fergusson-Stewart, Chief Marketing Officer for The Whisky Store. “While other whisky shows tend to cater to more experienced whisky consumers, here it doesn’t matter if you’re a whisky connoisseur or just a little curious – there will be something there for you,” he says.

He added that they will be taking all appropriate health precautions in light of the current COVID-19 outbreak. “The safety of our guests and exhibitors is one of our greatest considerations,” Fergusson-Stewart says.

Ticket prices for Whisky Journey range from an early bird single day pass (available until 31 March 2020) at S$25, S$28 for a standard single day pass (available until 30 April 2020), and the last minute single day pass at S$30. All tickets come with a free Glencairn glass and a S$10 credit.
