French artisanal gin makers Citadelle Gin adds Citadelle Jardin d’été, a new summer-inspired gin, to its core range.
Citadelle, the gin brand by French craft spirits producer Maison Ferrand – which also makes Ferrand Cognac and Plantation Rum, among others – has added a new expression, the Citadelle Jardin d’été, to its core range.
Jardin d’été, which means ‘summer’s day’ or ‘summer garden’, is inspired by a French garden. The new gin sees the addition of melon flesh, whole lemon, yuzu zest and additional orange peel on top of the 19 botanicals found in the Citadelle Original Gin. The brainchild of Debbie Gabriel – the wife of Citadelle founder and master distiller, Alexandre Gabriel – Citadelle Jardin d’été is a sensorial stroll through a fragrant fruit garden on a warm summer’s evening captured inside a bottle.
“The new Citadelle Jardin d’été is a tribute to my wife’s beautiful garden with all of her fruits, vegetables and herbs blooming in the summer. Her garden is my oasis and I wanted to bottle this little patch of paradise,” says Alexandre Gabriel. “It took several attempts to determine the ideal infusion period for each fruit and botanicals and we’ve finally created the perfect summer in a bottle.”
While Citadelle’s latest summer-inspired gin is based off the Citadelle Original Gin, they cannot be any more different. While the original also has a strong citrus base that complements the juniper, it’s also packed with spice notes in pepper, nutmeg, and cinnamon. The new expression is full-on sweet citrus, exploding with notes of juicy ripe oranges and tangy lemon on the palate. Subtle hints of summer herbs and wood spice appear in the finish.
Citadelle Jardin d’été is now available for purchase at selected Cold Storage and Market Place stores across Singapore at a recommended selling price of S$82, with limited-time promotions available for the launch period. Citadelle gins are also available for purchase online at EC Proof and Cold Storage. Citadelle Gin is officially distributed in Singapore by Proof & Company.
